I recently enjoyed a dinner at Macarena, a cozy yet creative restaurant in the Legazpi area. As soon as I stepped inside, I was welcomed by a warm dining space: rustic wood tables, cushioned chairs, soft overhead lanterns, and a leafy accent wall—it immediately felt both stylish and inviting.
I began with their smoked tuna tataki—thinly sliced and perfectly seared, with a tangy soy-citrus dressing that beautifully awakened the palate. Next, I tried the confit artichoke hearts: tender and subtly seasoned, served with crisp greens and a light vinaigrette. The standout was the Andalusian-style pulpo—octopus charred at the edges, tender on the inside, plated over creamy potato purée. Each bite showed thoughtful technique and fresh, bright flavors.
For the main dish, I chose the Retinto burger—a succulent beef patty topped with melted cheese and caramelized onions, served on a soft brioche bun. It struck a perfect balance—rich yet easy to finish. I rounded out the meal with a milhojas dessert—a layered pastry with cream and fruit, offering a pleasantly sweet and airy finish.
Service was friendly and knowledgeable. The staff offered suggestions based on my preferences and paced each dish just right, making the evening feel uninterrupted and relaxed.
The atmosphere is intimate and casual. Background acoustic music, low chatter from nearby tables, and just enough energy to feel lively without being crowded. It felt like a beloved local spot where quality and comfort come together.
Macarena blends Mediterranean flair, Andalusian roots, and modern presentation in a welcoming Legazpi setting. I’ll definitely be returning—to try their tiradito, croquette, and more of that creative...
Read moreWe enjoyed their food experience a lot. I trully recommend this place.
Tuna dishes are their MUST. Tuna is treated spectacularly well and dishes have high quality ingredients.
Please, do not miss the Camarón Taco-Mex. AWESOME!
I also loved desserts: ‘Volcán Idiazabal’ and a special torrija made by the chef (we visited the restaurant in Easter holidays and here in Spain, the ‘torrijas’ are famous during that time of the year).
One thing I really want to higlight is how Cesarina (the waitress who served us) was super professional, how she recommended the best dishes and how attentive she was with us. I really miss an excelent service in most of restaurants and thanks to her all my expectations...
