We came in with such high expectations, super excited to try the Cocido Madrileño, the traditional Madrid stew, but we walked out extremely disappointed. Honestly, please save your money and avoid it. You worked hard for your money, spend it something that is worth it😭
First of all, the portion size for one person is absolutely unnecessary. It’s way too big, and you’re not even allowed to share. One portion could easily feed two people (maybe even three if you’re girls). I just don’t get why you’d serve that much food to one person. It’s not enjoyable, it’s wasteful, and it kind of kills the experience.
Secondly, the stew is WAY WAY WAY too salty. Seriously. We started with the first vuelco, the broth with noodles. First sip, and I legit questioned if it was cooked with seawater. We then added the chickpeas and vegetables, hoping it would balance out the saltiness. It helped a little, and for a moment we thought, “Okay, maybe this is salvageable.” Then we got to the third vuelco, and that’s when 💩 hit the fan. The cured jamon was super dry and salty, and combined with the soup, every bite felt like I was dying with this seawater food. The only meat that was somewhat edible was the beef shank, but even that was very salty.
Thirdly, the problem doesn’t just stop at the cocido. One of our friends ordered fish, and when it came out, half of it was cold. We kept asking each other if we were imagining things, like how do you cook a fish and serve it half cold?
Anyway, to wrap it up: our favorite thing was chugging the bottle of water to save ourself and the moment we could stop eating. On the bright side, the experience was so ridiculous that we ended up laughing our asses off. Great memories with our group, but definitely not because of the food.✨✨✨

Read more"Simply not good enough" is what I would say if someone asked me to describe this place in four words. I went there with a couple of friends, by recommendation, and left quite disappointed. The reason being simple - you can get much better food and service for the same or slightly less money just a couple of hundred meters away, but I'll get to that later.
The staff knows absolutely ZERO English, and it's a problem in a place that has a relatively complicated menu.
As far as the food goes, if you go by the "house special" you'll be fine - as long as you like really local and traditional cooking. But good luck with that, because it comes in phases and the staff does not try to explain it, so by the time you're full, the best part is still to come. For 20 euros it's good quantity, but quality could be better.
Other dishes are extremely small, and probably won't feed a grown human. Also, they are quite expensive. Not on their own, but compared to places like Botin that serve really good traditional food with reasonable prices, paired with a great atmosphere and some history. A soul, if you will.
Be prepared to leave this place without feeling...
Read moreOmg, what an awful spot. I have been to several spots all around lisbon, barcelona and madrid for my 2 week trip and this by a landslide was the worst experience. Don’t order the croquette, or the tortilla, amd they ran out of the oxtail.
My server was a heavy set lady, doesn’t help explain the menu compared the other server. We waited even though we had reservations which we were ok with because they looked busy and the bartender was very kind and polite gentleman.
Food came out fairly quick first course but while waiting for the second course it was well over 40 mins, for their famous soup. it was ok, but what was annoying is i can tell they kept forgetting my table, would bring the meat and not the soup. After waiting another 10 mins finally got the soup.
We were not impressed and wanted to leave just to see that I was over charged. Make sure to look at the receipt. I was charged 3 times for the soup, and other items that I didn’t order. I checked the check and if I didn’t, she wouldn’t...
