I’m not necessarily rating the food , because I didn’t dine here. However , the service at this place is absolutely impeccable and I will be recommending this establishment to everyone I know on their voyage to Madrid.
On the 23rd of May , I was heading towards the metro La Latina. Two hooligans stole my phone. As I was running after them ( yes , yes , not the smartest idea) , the wonderful lady that works at La Capriccciosa pointed me where they ran. They split up and I didn’t catch them.
I went into La Capricciosa and the lady , who’s name I forgot ( I feel terrible but quite honestly I forgot my own name in the moment) , called the police for me , gave me water and comforted me. I cannot be any more grateful for such wonderful humans. I felt welcomed and understood , despite my broken Spanish and our language barrier. One of my worst traveling experiences turned to one of my fondest memories.
I wish I got to dine here because the hospitality felt like you came home to your family after time away.
Should I come back to Madrid , I’ll make sure to keep my eyes peeled to my possessions and I’ll definitely be making a stop at La...
Read moreAfter visiting Cordoba, Seville & Granada for the first 12 days of our vacation, we headed to Madrid for 5 nights and four days of exploring to wrap things up. We had done our share of tapas and local favorites and were ready for a change. We decided to try Italian and found La Capricciosa Italiana via a google search. It was close to our AirBNB and we decided to give it a try. Great choice! It wasn't crowded the first time we went (yes, we ended up going a 2nd time!) and we were seated immediately. After some initial banter we received a menu in English and then it became the decision from hell! Everything on the menu looked and sounded great! We ended up with a veggie bowl and a pizza. Both were delicious! Second time in I opted for Tortellini Emilia and my esposa had a pizza. Spot on again.
Great service; fun atmosphere and definitely worth writing a review for! And if we get back to Madrid we'll be enjoying this great...
Read moreLa Cappricciosa is a strong contender for the WORST PIZZA IN MADRID. Their cooks are certainly not trained pizzaiolos because the crust is thick and hard, like American pizza. The slices don't droop when you hold them with one hand (see photo). Instead of mozzarella slices, the margharita pizza was covered with cheap, tasteless, pre-grated cheese. Nor did it have fresh basil or AOVE. The "Pizza Latina" comes with salame, giving it slightly more taste. But, still, the quality is comparable to deep-frozen pizza from the supermarket. On top of the awful food, the place is unbearably noisy. My partner and I, sitting opposite one another at a distance of maybe 50 cm, struggled to have a conversation in a normal voice. Also, for some weird reason, the waiters are wearing Hawaiian shirts. In sum, La Capricciosa is an outright insult of...
