Based on their message about being a family-run business (not a franchise or chain) and taking pride in their authentic, made-from-scratch bagels, I really wanted to love it and leave a 5-star review. I have to say I was disappointed. I could get over the very high price for the Korean beef bagel if it were really amazing. The beef was tasty, but I don't understand what went wrong with the sesame bagel. It was hard, very crispy on the outside and there was not really much of any flavour or yumminess in the inside chew. I was truly confused. So then I did some research and realised that NY bagels are different from Montreal bagels, what I thought were THE only type of bagels and the only types I've ever had anywhere I've had bagels. My bad. So, putting that aside and judging the bagel simply as bread for a sandwich, not by the Montreal standard, I was still disappointed and it isn't something I would order or buy again. Saying all of that, service was delivered with a friendly smile and I have no doubt their bagels are homemade and made with pride and love. Just respectfully not...

I’m a NY/NJ girl living in madrid and before nopa opened I’d find bagels elsewhere just to kick the craving, always thinking “well, it’s not NY, it’s never going to be AS good.” I am so happy I was wrong. nopa bagels are as good, if not better than what you’d get in NY. They are wonderfully crispy on the outside and chewy/fluffy on the inside. So perfect you could eat them plain. But the schmears and sandwiches are so good you don’t have to! The “lower east side” salmon sandwich is everything you could want from a bagel sandwich. The cafe itself is an airy industrial chic, definitely worth enjoying the ambiance, especially because the staff curates an amazing energy—they’re attentive, friendly, passionate about their food, and concerned with making people feel at home. Lastly, it has to be said that I’m not a coffee drinker and tea can often feel like an afterthought— not here. Beautiful tea presentation with the highest personal pot I’ve gotten in madrid. Love everything about nopa....

Nopa is my favorite place is Madrid. The energy is amazing and the staff are so friendly and kind. As an American abroad, I can tell you these bagels are authentic and absolutely incredible. I highly recommend the Rosemary bagel but you really can’t go wrong with any of it. The owners are so incredibly kind and welcoming to all of their customers, making you feel like you’re in a wonderful like community every time you walk through their doors. If you have any time at all, stop in here for a drink (their coffee, matcha, and chai —for which they make the spice concoction themselves— are some of the best I’ve had in Madrid) and a bagel. Nopa is a home away from home, a haven of good food, and a wonderful place to reflect, catch up with friends, or read a book. I simply cannot...
