Sakana Restaurante — Restaurant in Madrid

WHAT A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! We decided to come here due to the great reviews, however, our visit was horrible since we set foot in the restaurant. We were not welcomed and stood at the door for 10 minutes to be taken to a table. The waitress asked if we had a reservation. We let her know that we were told that it wasn't necessary when we called half an hour before. She looked confused and upset turning her head to see where to sit us, although the restaurant was empty and had one couple sitting towards the front. She walked away, came back and guided us to a table located next to a door that was sealed closed with a lock and its door knob houvering over the table. She left us to attend to someone else and another waitress came to take our drinks. She was professional and respectful. The young man that brought our drinks was friendly. Four new parties entered the restuarant of which two were foreingers. The two women waitresses directed all of their attention to the two foreigner parties. We waited for 15 minutes and no took our order so we attempted to get someone's attention but were unsuccessful. Finally, we caught the attention of one of the waitresses that wasn't able to cummunicate in English with the new party sitting next to us. She immediately told us we had failed to let anyone that we were ready to order. So we told her that we can speak English in order to be serviced as well because we are Americans. She was rude, disregarded us, and walked away. We followed her to inform her that we were leaving and were disappointd to have been ignored for 35 minutes. PEOPLE do not eat here the food is overpriced and they onky have 3-5 types of fish. What makes me laugh is that the workers there are not even European and they discriminate against others. This is awful and do know that I had to give them a 1 since the program...

From the very moment we enter until the last second we spent there, we can say it was the most amazing experience we had throughout our whole trip in madrid. The ambient was just so classy and elegant, the service was just amazing and the food... Breathtaking!!! It was my girlfriend's birthday and as soon as the staff knew, they made sure we had the best experience ever! They wrote down "happy birthday" in Portuguese on the plate of our dessert and some of the staff members even sang her happy birthday, which made her cry in enthusiasm and happiness 😊 We had the box-23 which was amazing, then had the best poke tuna (83) accompanied by the salmon temaki (63) and kimchi (6) which we later on discovered it was supposed to be mixed with rice or chicken and it would even taste better (we'll be sure to order it next time 😋) Thank you so so much to all staff members and especially to Oriana, Cherisana (O apologise for misspelling your name 🙏🏽) and Sam!

To whomever decides to come and experience the best sushi place in town, I hearthly recommend visiting sakana...

In general very average food. Tartar de toro was plain, nothing interesting. disappointment for that price. When I ordered the tartar the waitress was surprised and she said it's an expensive dish and nobody orders that... What an odd comment to hear from a waitress. I think 27€ is an ok price for a great meat tartar but it wasn't the case...this one wasn't worth the price. Also Ramen was really plain. We asked for something to make it more spicy, we waited like 10 minutes...we tried to ask again but no one paid attention and 5 waitresses were just gossiping at the bar. Finally some came but by then the ramen was already cold.... They brought something like tomato sauce, not spicy at all. Fried chicken average. The sushi box and kimchi were good.
