I really appreciated the range of options for celiacs in Madrid, but this place was a real gem - Iâve been back two more times in a relatively short period! I love that itâs so close to everything - a short walk from Sol - but far enough that itâs not super noisy or crowded.
The menu is entirely gluten free, with pizzas as the specialty. We also tried the tacos and a couple of desserts. The tacos were more like little crispy disks than either soft tacos or the U-shaped hard tacos, but they were tasty. I got the impression the dough may not be so different to the pizza crust. The pizzas were good: we had the vegetarian, the caprese and the burrata. All were good. Iâm less a fan of corn on my pizza, so preferred the latter two, but all were really tasty. The cheesecake was among the cheesiest Iâve had, with an actual cheese crisp served with it! The brownie was delicious, served with a chocolate sauce and a mountain of (natural) banana ice-cream. These really hit the mark.
The atmosphere is really nice and the service was great, we were never rushed. The decor is an interesting mix of new (upstairs) and old (downstairs), but everywhere there are plants, interesting lights, woven light fixtures. Even the bathroom is good! (Not always a given in Madrid, in my experience). A great place to relax and enjoy delicious...
Read moreI was in Madrid and looked for a nearby GF friendly place for lunch. I saw reviews and photos of pizza from this place and made a quick reservation 15 minutes in advance and boy did I luck out! I ordered the Iberian pizza, which was delicious! Iâve never had a pizza crust made from quinoa after 20 years celiac, living in NY, and traveling the world for a living. You canât eat it like a typical American pizza since itâs so floppy (or maybe you can, I didnât try), I used fork and knife. Anyway, it was a great alternative to other crust options, Iâm not sure why I havenât seen this in the states! Anyway, the toppings were fabulous, the pizza was large, and the 2 GF beers hit the spot. The icing on the cake was the terrific ATTENTIVE service I received, even though it didnât seem very touristy since everyone spoke Spanish (my waiter spoke very good English - bravo!). It was weird to be able to converse in English to someone after 5 days in Asturias yet not be in a tourist trap. I highly, highly recommend this place!! Iâm just sorry that Iâm only here one day and canât try more...
Read moreI visited this restaurant last night because it was late and I have celiacs disease, and it was one of the only options close to my hotel. As someone who has worked in fine dining most of my life in the U.S. I must say this is by far the worst service I've ever received in a restaurant.
I purposely speak in my native tongue because I prefer to see how people will treat me when they think I'm unaware of what they're saying. You wait staff literally yelling and throwing a public tantrum in the back was beyond unprofessional. I also live in California surrounded by Latin cuisine. I'm very aware what I ordered and was instead served a pizza, but yet charged for a chef special. So not only was the service bad, but you all also fraudulently charged me for something I didn't order. It's also very dangerous to do this to someone who has food allergies because you aren't aware of how there body will respond. I will be reporting your restaurant.
Communication is key. If you stop serving Chef specials at a certain hour than communicate that...
