I don't even know where to start. ||I've booked a bed in a 8 mixed bed dorm, I got a bed but I was the only girl in the room wich, ti say the least, made things weird. ||The bed was clean and comfortable - the only clean thing in the hotel. ||The 8 bed dormitory had a fan that was not working so on the 6th of August with nearly 40°C outside and 8 peopple in the same room ...you would just boil - i did not find this human at all. ||The other thing that was very unhuman was that the room had only 1 toilette and 1 shower. There was no other shared toilet on the hallway. The shower was clogged most of the time so you basically had to lie with your feet in the water that everybody has used before you- absolutely disgusting. The one and only toilet has a big gap under the door so it was like you were pissing and pooping in front of everybody else in the room. Both the shower and the toilette did not have a fan. ||The people at the reception were not friendly and it took them about 25 minutes to check me in and give me a key which is outrageousI asked for a bottle of water as they have a leaflet at reception saying they have bottles of watter, coffee & tea. I waited for about 10 minutes because the guy at the reception was busy talking to someone else so i asked again and the he said they're out of water and gave me a little glas of tap watter instead.||The card to open the door keep deactivating itself so every time I'd just have to go back to reception and wait for the people bahind the desk to finish their important conversation before haveing the card reactivated. ||At checkout you just wait to get back your 5 euro for the key, similar with stone age only they have a safe box, so the person bahind the desk just scrolls through envelopes till she/he finds the one that has your name written on it. I don't need to get my exact money back, just the 5 euro. ||The wifi works fine.||Overall I really do not...
Read moreGood: The beds were clean and comfortable. The location is excellent. The hostel rooms were cleaned properly on a daily basis. Towels and a locker with key are given. the 4.50 euro breakfast in the morning is good.
Bad: The hostel is described on Google as 'lively' but has no atmosphere. There are no social events or anything and staff make no attempts to initiate anything. There is a common room in a disused breakfast but it is mostly used for breakfast or people working. A couple of the receptionists are helpful and friendly but a couple or miserable and very unhelpful/not very good at their jobs. It can also be very, very slow checking in and waiting to be served (especially if only one person is working). There are no privacy curtains on he beds and the lockers are noisy and squeaky. The design of the rooms is odd. The toilet and shower are separate which is ok but the sinks are in the room itself, and very noisy, waking everyone up late at night or in early morning. Why they are not in the shower and toilet is strange. There is also no other communal toilet on the floor for example so if someone is using your room one you need to wait. In my room (34) the door is faulty and does not open properly. When checking out, they charge you two euros to store your luggage which most hostels do not do and leaves a bad taste after spending several nights and money there. Also, despite making bookings for six consecutive nights and being told I was to be in the same bed and room, after the first day I received a WhatsApp message telling me I had to check out and when I got back my bed my stuff had been moved, but thankfully I got the same bed back. I was also told I had to wait until 3pm to 'check in again' despite the fact I had the same bed and a consecutive booking (which I...
Read moreWell havent stayed here yet but i was planning too until i made a slight error on hostelworld booking my 3 nights,,, I noticed my error as soon as i hit book but since you are on a time limit i kind of rushed through the process and regretfully yet immediately realized I booked for the day I departed and not the day I was arriving in madrid. So having worked in hostels before and having to deal with these sort of bookings myself, I knew that if I got in contact with them soon enough, that they may be able to make the one day change for me. instead I get an alert from my bank account that even after they read my emails and instagram messages trying to let them know of the change, even after they replied telling me I had to talk to hostelworld. They still tried charging my account, thankfully my bank is actually proficient at their job and thankfully it lead me to reading all of the awful reviews they have. You can feel their harsh tone and seriousness that someone else mentioned just with the way they replied through emails and text, not a single hello goodmorning or hope you are having a great day. The point of a hostel is to coexist amongst fellow travelers, not to make them feel like you are only after...
