We went to Raza Madrid in Calle Barquillo, whilst we were on a Holiday in Madrid. We travel with our very small dog, which is also well behaved (she is trained) and gets carried inside a bag. We checked prior going to the restaurant if she was allowed to which we were told absolutely so we proceed booking. The first time we went there our experience was amazing, the service was great, food was great, we were able to put our little dog (inside her bag) in a chair next to us where she was bothering no one, in fact I don’t think anyone noticed she was there until we left. As our experience was great, we rebooked for our last night in Madrid. However, this time, the person in charged (Carlos) made us feel unwelcome, telling us we couldn’t use a chair, despite the fact that we were there two days ago and the situation was very different. In fact I posted a video on social media where my dog was inside her bag and the restaurant repost it. If this wasn’t allowed why would the community manager repost this? It was not only that but his condescending tone by denying every single option we were proposing in terms of our seating arrangements, and only saying that we were incorrect and that whoever was in charge last time was incorrect. It was a horrible experience and we left the restaurant not having eaten. I messaged the community manager on Instagram who was very nice and helpful and discussed this with the management team, who subsequently asked us to return to the restaurant. However, damaged was already done and we did not feel like returning. Here I want to clarify I’m not complaining about the restaurant policies with dogs. Restaurants can choose which policies they want to have, but is the difference in conditions besides being in the restaurant two days apart, and the demeanour of the person in charge and how unwelcome he made us feel. I have to say the rest of the staff was very nice and they knew we were there two days apart , agreed with us but couldn’t do anything. The three stars are for the first nice experience we...
Read moreLet’s just start this with this disclaimer: I’m a traveler, not a tourist. Sick of eating tapas and sharing food all week with my European friends, I happily stumbled on this small restaurant located close to my hotel. Eating alone always is a bit intimidating, especially in a foreign country, but the lovely blonde waitress was very welcoming and offered me a seat at the kitchen bar (front line view of the meats!!!) or a table in the back. Obviously I opted for birds eye view of the grill, so I could improve my own craft. I ordered the 350 gram rib eye from Cadiz (I want only Spanish meat while I’m here, I got an Argentine butcher back in Miami), grilled veggies (thank god- a week of ice berg lettuce salads, the dish of the EU, have severely depleted my fiber) and the Robouchon mashed potatoes. The rib eye came out rare, as expected, but Lovely Blonde sent it back and the chef even leaned over to double check it the next time it came out a deep, perfect pink, like velvet. Everything was simple, flavorful, and stellar. Meat had a fantastic, smoky char and a soft inside that melted in my mouth alongside that rib eye fat. I would have traded my mother for the mashed potatoes. The veggies were a delightful blend of tomatoes, squash, broccoli… and while veggies don’t count for calories, these were grilled with an exquisite Spanish olive oil that made them svelte af. The service was spectacular in that they didn’t rush me, were attentive, and kind. I topped off the feast with the 90% cacao torta, and a crema liquor Lovely Blonde recommended. Enlightened, I rolled myself back...
Read moreDining at Raza Madrid was an exceptional culinary experience. From start to finish, the service—led by Julia Casado—was attentive, professional, and warm, creating the perfect atmosphere for an elevated evening.
The meal was a true journey of flavors. We began with the Pan y Aperitivo and the Japanese Eggplant, both beautifully prepared and full of character. The Grilled Octopus (Pulpo a las Brasas) was a highlight—perfectly tender with a smoky finish that showed true mastery in execution. The Lomo Alto Ayrshire steak was outstanding, rich and flavorful, cooked with precision and showcasing the quality of the ingredients. The Warm Salad added a fresh and balanced note to the experience.
To complement the food, we enjoyed a bottle of La Montesa wine, which paired wonderfully with the dishes, and Água Numem Premium to round out the evening.
Every detail—from the quality of the ingredients to the pacing of the service—reflected a thoughtful approach to fine dining. I highly recommend Raza for anyone looking for a refined, modern Madrid dining experience. Booking a terrace table is well worth it, as the ambiance is elevated...
