I have stayed at this hotel for years and have talked about this property to everyone. I just left the hotel after the worst hotel experience of my life! I called hours ahead to ensure they had room available and the gentleman on the phone said "yes, just show up and we will honor the $$ rate". So I did. The person who I met at the front desk was the worst person in customer service I have ever met! I told him that I spoke to someone on the phone and that they would have a room for me at that rate. He immediately said "that is impossible" in a smug manner. This went on for a few minutes until he finally said "that must be per night!" I told him that is what I have said all along. He then proceeded to refuse to check me in because I had a local friend with me, who was making sure I go to the hotel ok. I told this guy that he is not staying in the room but just coming up to visit before he goes home. It didn't matter to this front desk guy he said "I will not check you in without his passport!" My friend didn't have his passport on him, being a local English teacher, but was able to finally convince him to use his local Spanish ID!.. I then questioned the gentleman about the "lowest price promise" to ensure that I was receiving the lowest price. He said "I do not recognize it!" I then quoted EU law regarding guarantee pricing and his tune changed to "well where did you see a better price?" I just brought the conversation up because I didn't really check prices yet and wanted to make sure I got the best price. He rudely stopped me in trying to explain my intention and started quoting prices out loud. It's strange how he started to recognize the price match then. He threw down my key and said the elevator is behind me. I asked "is it a nice room?" He said "it's the last room!" But is it nice? For 250 euro per night I wanted to hear, it's a nice comfortable room. Not, it's all we got good luck! At this point, plus multiple additional rude comments he made over the check in process, I asked him if this was a 4 star hotel and if he knew what the difference between a 4 star hotel and any other type of hotel. I told him it was in the customer service and how they treat people. He immediately responded with "well I wasn't rude!" And I told him I would not have brought it up if that was the case. This is where things start to get bad... After going up to the room I noticed the closest light was not turning off despite the closest doors being closed. These lights are bright and lighting up the room making it hard to go to sleep, when I decided to. So I called downstairs explained that the lights are not turning off and asked for someone to come and look at it or unplug the switch. The same guy, from before, said "you have to close the doors and they will go off." Obviously he didn't hear a word I said about them being on for an hour with the closet door shut. After another back and forth he finally sent his front desk partner to investigate. The man can in and opened and shut the doors multiple times and waited and still they were on. Before he left he said "I will have to get someone up to look at it" he left to go find someone and talk with the same guy from before, downstairs, to resolve the issue. An hour goes by and nothing! No call! No maintenance! Nothing! I finally call downstairs and a lady picks up. I explain the situation and she said " close the closest doors!" I can't believe this at this point! I just wanted to go to bed and I can't. I told her that I'm done dealing with the rudeness and the situation and I will just leave (after being in the room for 2 hours waiting for maintenance that never came). She said "we want you to be happy and if you want to leave that is ok it is no problem we want you to be happy!" I thanked her and said this is a great hotel but it's just not up to par this time. She said I'll see you down stairs and thanked me. I go downstairs and the same guy was " we have to charge you!" That's when I lost it. Never stay here, it is not worth the money and not...

Upon entering late night (when we arrived like bats in the night), we were greeted by staff who was lovely and accommodating and offered us some Veuve and water. Nice bonus. The clerk even upgraded us to a room that had a small balcony, with a window overlooking the side street, and a theater below. The location is Chueca. Close to Gran Via. Great location as it surrounds many cafes, restaurants, banks, and boutique shopping. Also, not in the exact center of the hustle and bustle (meaning, a bit quieter). The lobby really is the beauty of the hotel. Eclectic art in the various maze (I got turned around several times) of the public rooms surrounding the lobby, from old white suitcases, to, shelves of books that adorn the walls inside the elevators (if you get stuck, you can catch up on your reading), art deco furniture, a caged check in desk adorned by ivy, oversized accoutrements, navy blue walls, and an area next to the check in station with room for mini muffins, fruit, an espresso machine, champagne, sugared candies, all complimentary. The service was outstanding during our entire stay. The staff, bent over backwards to help in anyway possible.
Entering our room: To the left, a sliding glass door (with old maps of Madrid etched in the glass) entering the toilet and shower, a square European toilet, a stand up rain shower with overhead shower along with a handheld sprayer, a couple of robes, then a separate area for the marble sink with cabinets, shaving mirror, towels, and a hair dryer as well as a hair straightener with European plug-ins (nice touch), separated by a half wall (shuttered) as not to wake anyone up in the bed area. There are two closets with drawers, as well as a safe and a refrigerator (stocked, but no room for anything else). A desk with a chair and lamp, some magazines, coffee maker with saucers, and sweeteners, and a VERY comfortable king sized bed with a studded navy leather headboard and reading lights on either side. Side table with basic telephone. Flat screen tv. On the other side is a double door balcony with darkening shades as well as light shading, to open and enjoy a step (just a step outside), and a view of the street.
Had a restful sleep. Sadly, the weather was terrible during our short stay, but they did provide umbrellas. We asked for dinner recommendations two of the three evenings. One was okay, and open late, and close by. The other was beyond terrible and very pricey. My only peeve is the concierge that made us the reservation, (the next day we told him about our negative experience), mentioned he would phone the restaurant to inform them of our disappointment. He pretended to make the call, and then when my boyfriend went over, the phone had been hung up, and he never actually made the call. I found that odd to be honest.
Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay, the staff, and the...
Read moreAs we had the long weekend coming up in Dubai, my wife and I decided to go to Madrid, Spain for a short holiday. We weren't very sure where we would end up staying but chose ONLY YOU Boutique Hotel Madrid as we saw interesting photos and reviews of the property.
Well let me tell you, we were definitely not disappointed. We were greeted with warm and welcoming staff upon entering the hotel. The staff very extremely accomodating and willing to help you with any request. Literally.
The checkin was easy and hassle free. The information provided during checkin was very helpful. There were two people in particular who did an exceptional amazing job at helping us out every step of the way. Ivan & Jordi. We asked so many questions regarding the city itself and the attractions we could possibly visit during our short stay and they went above and beyond to guide us.
They helped us out with whatever we had questions about. Keeping it professional yet light hearted the whole time we were there. They helped us with Restaurant and Flamenco bookings. In general these two were your go to people at the hotel if you needed any kind of service or help.
At the hotel, they have a Tapas bar where Fidel was our server who recommended the best dishes to have from that bar. And they were fantastic along with his service.
This hotel is definitely going to be recommended by us to all our friends and family who travel to Madrid. The place is stunning, comfortable and a very friendly environment to be in during your stay. The location is also pretty prefect as you can easily walk around or take a taxi to the area where most of the great sites and sounds of Madrid city are.
If we decide to come back to Madrid, we are staying at this property for sure and If there were more than 5 Stars, we would definitely give it to this hotel. Great job and keep up the good work and service....
