In London, the later you order food the worse it gets, and declines until you are left with cold greasy pizzas. Similarly, this restaurant stops serving food at 1am and the London rule applies to it.
The potato croquettes were nice, but the calamari was tasteless and greasy. The worst was saved until last.
The prawns in garlic were Shrimps in oil. There was no hint of garlic, just a bowl of hot bubbling oil with tiny shrimps who deserved better in death.
We took the shrimps out of the oil and drained the oil in napkins. Unfortunately that didn't remove the taste of the oil which I can still taste in the back of my throat as I write this review. Even de-oiled and degreased, they had no texture or flavour and I couldn't bring myself to finish them. The bill came to £30 (€35) which included two juices.
Slightly earlier in the evening the night before we went to El Minibar at C/ del Mesón de Paños. The three Tapas and two juices came to the same price but were in a different universe to what was served at Loredo, yet they are just 30 minutes walk from each other.
Has Madrid got a wormhole to a parallel universe, one where the tapas is innovative and rich and full of flavour, and the other devoid...
Read moreWe ordered two tonic water and one tapas. We are served with unclean glass with residual coke at the bottom. We asked for a change of glass and the waitress took 10-15 mins to bring another clean one. We were served two plates, one comes with 7-8 small size prawn, grilled in garlic and olive oil. The other plates comes with 4 small mushrooms grilled with bacon. The prawn stings from stale rottenness; though the mushroom taste alright. We were charged 25 euros. None of the prices on the menu matches this amount. An outrages price for the small amount of food. If you do not speak Spanish, avoid this place as you are likely to be next victim. The Madrid restaurant association should monitor this restaurant as it brings a bad name to the...
Read moreWe landed in Madrid and started walking looking for some authentic Spanish food. After 30mins of walking thru picturesque parks n buildings we stumbled upon this spot and decided to try it. We ordered the jamón tapas, lamb chops n paella. The jamón was good, it is an acquired taste so not everyone will like it as it has a very strong smell. Lamb chops were ok, very bony, not much meat. Paella was good, was loaded with seafood. For $47, it was a lil pricey but food was good. In Madrid, beer is cheap, some places charge you for water, u also pay for bread, so keep...
