Worst dining experience of my life. I have never wanted to leave a restaurant so badly before.
I am not one to ever complain about food or dining experiences but this deserved a public post because I am shocked at how high the rating of this restaurant is.
I ordered the steak but it was the most inedible piece of meat that I have ever tried ingesting in my life. I'm not sure what cut of meat this is but it was most definitely not for steak. It was 50% meat, 30% fat, and 20% gristle. I cannot understand how the kitchen can serve this and call it food. I ordered it medium but it was so inconsistently cooked that it came out blue rare in the middle and well-done on the tips. The cut was innervated with sinew so often times when I took a bite, I wasn't able to chew it at all and in two instances, I had to spit out the food because it was that awful.
We informed our waiter about our issue but his tone was incredibly condescending and rude. He was telling us that different cuts have different layers of fat and it just so happened we ended up eating the pieces with the most inedible pieces of fat. He informed my table that the steak would be removed from the bill but 10minutes later, he came back and informed us that his promise of doing this would not be kept.
Appalled. That's how my experience was....
Read moreLa Mi Venta was kind enough to seat us outdoors without a reservation. It turned into one of the best dinners we had during our trip to Europe. Our server, Alexandra, was attentive and so kind. She helped us choose what to eat and was so pleasant. We began with the tuna tartar and Imberico ham croquettes. The croquettes truly stood out not only for the generous amounts of meat but also for the inventive tomato jam with which they were served. Very nice work! For our main dish, we split the Imberico pork secreto served with potatoes and blistered shishito peppers. From what we could tell, the only seasoning was a generous sprinkle of flakey salt and thats all the plate needed. The natural flavor of the food shined and the salt was the perfect accent - really excellent ingredient selection and cooking. We finished our meal with separate desserts. The chocolate mousse with pistachio cream was rich and very good. The gin & tonic sorbet was another surprising invention and so tasty (and boozy!)! Strawberries were the perfect accent to this cold and satisfying dessert. La Mi Venta will be at the top of our list of places to return when we're back in Madrid. Thank you for making room for us; we'll be sure to reserve a...
Read moreYum. Tasty food. Great service. It's a bit out of the way, not in city center, but worth a visit for Iberian ham.
Menu is in English but you need to scan the QR code and access it online. They have free Wifi. I didn't get to experience the inside brick cellar as the weather was lovely during the afternoon. We sat outside with many visits from some bees, but it was under the shade.
I highly recommend starting the meal with tinto de verano €4.60! This is better (sweeter) than the sangria. The tomate salad €11.9 that we ordered came out next, but it took a while before the next dish was served.
I got the carne dish €54.5 to share. They brought out the raw cut to show us before they cooked it. We asked for medium rare but when it came out, most of it was red and fleshy. Perhaps a normal medium would have been better. The jamon plate €27.5 was good. It's apparently from acorn-fed pigs. Since we were in Madrid, we decided to also try their special iberico dish €22.9, which was also acorn-fed. It was three small pieces served with potatoes, but it was so tasty.
When I got the bill, I saw they charged us €1.75 per person for pan (bread). I think they were distracting us with the olive oil presentation, but oh well, it...
