Restaurante Maison Umami — Restaurant in Madrid

The first time I came to Maison Umami I left amazed. This is a great place to come and great food, great time with friends or family. To start off, initially we ordered the gyozas de pato with boletus and foie salsa pekin and they are definitely worth it, in fact, very few restaurants i’ve been to have this good of gyozas. We have also tried the popcorn langostinos( delicious) and the vegetable rolls( not in the menu, but they have them 😉) For the main meal, a must try would be the Pad Thai, i consider this their best ( I am still yet to try other dishes) If you want some meat, you could try the Picaña de Ternera which has such a great taste, or the Chow Mian ( this one was a bit strong taste for me, but you could ask them to make it moderate seasoning). If you want to try an amazing Duck, here is the place, the Pato Crocante is just the right dish to combine with any other dish, the Arroz Frito y a great option and awesome to share with more than one person. So unfortunately I have not chosen to have desert here each time I come, I do get pretty full sharing all their good dishes, but I did tried the Nemelaka, which I shared. We expected more for that money. Soup tom yam was very delicious. We really liked it. Dim sums were very delicious. We really liked it. Sushi rolls were delicious and big portion. We really liked it. Wok noodles with beef were disgusting. Almost only noodles with very very small piece of meet. Taking into account how much it costs, it was terrible. The question to chief cook, how did you manage to cook wok like that? I know what it should be like, but it shouldn’t be like it was There is no any own drinks like lemonade, cocktail and so on. Tenía muchas ganas de probar este nuevo asiático porque me encanta la comida asiática, por desgracia la experiencia no fue la que esperaba. Pedimos 3 entrantes dos de los cuales llegaron muy rápido (selección de dimsun que estaban bien y un dos piezas de sushi de wagyu: muy buen producto el arroz eso sí, para mi gusto, no estaba a la altura) Un detalle es que una de las cucharas de la salsa de soja vino manchada como de una especie de mayonesa (y no un poco sino bastante) no le dimos importancia.

Aquí es donde empiezan los problemas: el siguiente entrante llega casi media hora después y encima se equivocan de maki, lo comentamos y se ofrecen a cambiarlo, algo que personalmente no aceptaría ya que se tendría que tirar el plato anterior así que acabamos comiendo ese. El plato era el maki de salmón con salsa de anguila y mayonesa las salsas era lo único que se notaba en el plato porque había demasiada. Por último los principales pedí consejo sobre especialidades de la casa y vi un poco perdido a la gente de sala no se conocían bien su carta acabamos pidiendo el pato con salsa de almendra y el arroz con trufa

El pato me llegó frio y digo frío y no templado sino frío, además a pesar de ser buen producto el plato no me gustó especialmente. El arroz incluye un show cooking que para mi sobra y que solo ayudó a que se enfriara aun más mi plato, el arroz estaba bien. De postre un finger de matcha con una mousse que simplemente estaba correcto.

Cuando llegó la cuenta esperaba que al menos, debido a su despiste, tuvieran un detalle aunque fuera mínimo, invitar a un chupito o por ejemplo regalarnos la cerveza que consumí (3 euros) o incluso descontarnos la diferencia entre el maki que pedimos y el que nos sirvieron (apenas un euro, es más el detalle)

Entiendo que influye mucho que acaben de abrir, seguro que volveré pero será dentro de mucho tiempo, espero que todo funcione mejor y poder cambiar la reseña.

He vuelto para probar el menú del día y noto que se están mejorando cosas de ahí a subir la nota espero volver para comer de carta y poder subirle aún más, van por buen camino pero como menú del día hay opciones más...
