Rodilla — Restaurant in Madrid

Interesting breadth of sandwich selection, from thin single-filling diagonal-cut pre-made pre-packaged sandwiches that you might find in a Japanese vending machine, to large custom-assembled sandwiches from a wide variety of fresh ingredients as good as any artisanal sandwich shop! The smoothies are great, and the rest of the menu looks appealing— definitely want to come back to try other things.

Equally important is the shop itself. You enter on the ground floor (where you can buy pre-made sandwiches and bottled drinks and whoosh away in a hurry), but a stairs on your left lead up to the artisanal sandwich bar and down to the clean, tasteful restrooms.

The ground floor and first floor are really half-floors, and exterior walls are mostly glass in both the front and the back, creating a split-level dining area that feels open, airy, and full of natural light. Staff are both friendly and efficient. Prices are good!

The lower floor (where the restrooms are) is also spacious and well-lit but definitely a separate space. Some comfy bench-style seating and booths here, and outlets to keep your laptop charged. Quieter than upstairs too: the occasional sound of the smoothie blenders and coffee-bean grinders is much muted here. It was not crowded when I visited in the late afternoon. Two persons at separate tables were on laptops; one of them was wearing headphones. And did I mention the excellent restrooms?

Seems like the perfect place to get some work done, and dine well while...

Old school sandwich and bakery. This restaurant was founded right after the Spanish civil war. I've been told that initially it was for aristocrats and Franco's buddies and was not accessible to the working class. Over time it became more so with the addition of sandwiches to the menu. There's a lot on Wikipedia but I'm having trouble finding more info on the original accessibility of the restaurant to the working class.

My partner and I had a delicious waffle and we each had a Reuben, which had turkey, ham, and melted cheese. Both were a delight! Coffee is about the same in any cafeteria in Madrid so it was good as expected.

There are less expensive places to eat but Rodilla is easy to find so it could be...

Hoy probamos el desayuno de @rodillasandwich

Hace unos meses estuvimos desayunando en Viena Capellanes y nos gustó bastante poco .

De forma poco justa decidí generalizar así q ni me había planteado probar el desayuno de otras cadenas similares .

Hace unas semanas , de forma un tanto fortuita decidí entrar en al Rodilla de la calle Orense a tomar un té. Ese Rodilla es de los 1ros q se abrieron y en mis tiempos de estudiante íbamos con frecuencia a merendar , le tengo cariño. Subí a la parte de arriba , mi preferida y me senté con mi libro y mi infusión..muy bien servida por cierto ( ya hice reseña al respecto) . En poco rato todas las mesas se llenaron de gente tomando tostadas y bollería con una pinta estupenda y decidí q no podía tardar en volver a probar ese desayuno.

Esta mañana hacia una mañana estupenda. Hemos salido a pasear y nos hemos acercado a ese mismo Rodilla.

Nos hemos sentado al lado del ventanal en una mesita , algo pequeña para dos, y hemos disfrutado de un estupendo desayuno continental a nuestro estilo 100%

El pan pinta estupendo pero luego estaba algo ...gomoso ? Igual por ser domingo? O será sp así? No sé... Buen tamaño eso si Té y zumo 👌🏻

Además había pan blanco , tostada de aguacate, iberica , croissant, napolitanas, sandwiches dulces ..

Tienen tazas de diferentes tamaños para el café y especiales para Infusiones.

Servicio rápido y eficiente .Dos personas sirviendo desayunos a toda marcha. Mención especial al chico, muy grandon, q tb me puso el té en mi visita anterior . Encantador y eficiente

5 euros pp . Estupendo ! Estamos pagando de 6 a 7 euros de media con zumo. Bajar de ahí es difícil .

Experiencia global 8/10 Mucha gente con una tasa de renovación alta ,no me sorprende pq quitando q el pan estaba algo rebenido todo muy bien
