The "torrilla de patatas" filled with mashrooms has been a bit disappointing. I'd expect that. I suggest you to go for the classic one: the simple "tortillas de patatas" without anything inside it. Tortilla review The stuffed tortilla de patatas was really dry compared to the ones I ate even in the worst Spanish restaurant I tried or to very good ones homemade prepared from some Spanish friends of mine. Portions It's for 2 people, but it's so big that 3 people can have a lunch with just one tortilla. My suggestion: if you really want to try it, it would be perfect for 4 people. In this way you'll leave some space for the dessert: for example the "churros" to San Ginés! There is often a long queue but it worth it. Restaurant review Here, in the center of LGBT neighborhood, there is a nice environment with also some references to support LGBT (well done!). Before to pass final judgment about this restaurant I should try something else in the menu. Tapas TAPAS Tapas! In the meantime I suggest you to have tapas in one of the bars in Madrid. Just order something to drink and ask for tapas: a piece of tortilla and other snacks will arrive for free (often the amount of tapas they give are enough to get full).

Insuperable . Quien venga a esta ciudad debe ir a probarlas

Quite literally had my mind blown when I saw the portion size of the dishes in the places. Located in the bustling Chueca area, this place is always busy. We didn’t have a reservation nor was it lunch hour, but they were still super attentive. We got the padrón peppers, tortilla with caramelized onions (small one), jamón and grilled octopus tentacles. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting this place to be this bomb, so I’m definitely surprised. The padrón peppers were plenty, and they were very tasty! The only thing is that I’d add a bit more salt and pepper to balance the bitterness taste of the pepper seeds. The peppers were so well fried I ate all the stems too. The tortilla was humongous, and the caramelized onions definitely hit the spot. It was sweet and I have such a sweet tooth that this definitely filled my craving for a tortilla. I’m a big fan of the Spanish tortilla, and although this wasn’t one of the best I’ve tried, it was most certainly one of the best priced. The entire meal was quick and well organized, the wait staff were very efficient. The only thing I didn’t like was the environment. It’s your typical Spanish bar, but just look a bit messy and dark and dirty. I’m sure it’s very clean, but the bathroom did not have any toilet paper or working hand dryer (or paper towels). But to be honest, for the price it has, I’m not complaining. In general, this was a surprisingly pleasant experience and I’d definitely take friends back there again!

Honestly, I do not know how this place has the reviews that it does, which is why we decided to try it. Let me preface this review by saying we have been in Madrid for 6 months and know and love Spanish food. This place offers nothing - bad atmosphere (like Ralph Lauren threw up in a bar), poor service (not friendly and they wear t-shirts that say Staff like you are at a music festival and we watched food sit in the window for a long time while she failed to deliver it because she was talking) and truly horrible food. The tiras de pollo were more like jerky - I felt like Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation trying not to unhinge my jaw while chewing it. The huevos rotos con chistorra consisted of potatoes that were sliced and cooked through but not remotely crunchy - more like a boiled potato. The eggs were cooked completely so there was zero runny goodness. The chistorra itself was fine but not as good as at many other places. The one positive was the albariño was cold and crisp. Another plus, and why I suspect the reviews are so good, is that the portions are HUGE, which would be great if the food was actually edible. We asked if we could order media raciones and were told we could not and yet the waitress did not give us any guidance that the chicken and huevos rotos were way too much for two people. Plenty of other restaurants have given us guidance about portion sizes. We should have known it was not good when it was the prime lunch hour and there were only two or three tables occupied. I suspect this restaurant is more like a Krystals or White Castle in the US, packed at night with people who have been drinking and don't know what they are eating. In a town full of incredible restaurants,...

Literally the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in 48 years. To make it worse, the food was only average.

I’m a vegetarian with a meat allergy. I checked multiple times that all the food we ordered was meat-free. Despite that, they served us jamón (ham) croquettes instead of mushroom croquettes—something we only realised after I had eaten one. When I pointed this out to the server, she admitted the mistake and replaced the plate, but only with four croquettes instead of the six we had originally ordered.

Shockingly, we were still charged in full, including the dish that contained meat I didn’t ask for and physically cannot eat. When we raised this, the server blamed the kitchen and refused to apologise. She told us it was our responsibility to cut open every croquette to check they were correct, and that they couldn't guarantee the kitchen would follow the order. That’s an unacceptable standard, especially when allergens are involved.

When we calmly said we wouldn’t pay for food we didn’t order and couldn’t eat, they blocked the door and told us we couldn’t leave until we paid 100% of the bill. A large male staff member was brought over to intimidate us. The standoff lasted 15 minutes with no apology, no responsibility, and no compromise.

In the end, my friend paid just to escape the situation and avoid ruining our holiday further. I’ve never been treated so badly in a restaurant, and I would strongly advise vegetarians, allergy sufferers, or frankly anyone who expects basic decency to avoid this place...
