I’m so bummed- I saved this place for the last night of my trip deliberately. According to google it closes at 12 midnight but upon walking in at 11:40 I was told they were closed. I guess I was too late, but I thought by coming before 11:45 it would be okay- I was really looking forward to enjoying some vegan comfort food in a seemingly queer friendly space. Had I known it actually closed earlier I would have reoriented my day so that I could have enjoyed a meal here before leaving. The sign on the door says it closes at 2 so it Im honestly just kinda sad and confused about this places hours. If the place closes at 11:30 then it’s probably best to just say it closes at 11:30. I met a couple outside who thought it closed at 2, per the sign on their own door, and were excited to fine and had to regretfully inform them it was already closed. I think a bit of clarity would be helpful, so folks can manage their expectations.
Edit: I am surprised to find the owners were so hurt over this review. I feel I left it detailed enough that folks can make up their mind about whether my review makes them unwilling to dine here or not. I am not sure what me being the first person to make this critique has to do with anything- I am not bothered being the first person to make a complaint though as I said in my initial comment I met a couple outside the door who were also confused about the hours, attempting to walk in, and disappointed to find they could not dine there. In any case, this is just a case of cultural difference. Where I live when a restaurant closes that means they stop taking orders and the door is closed, but folks remain inside the building who are finishing meals and the staff cleans before leaving. It doesn’t mean everyone must be out by that time. I spoke from my experience. This is why I mention attempting to come before 11:45. I was told by your staff you were closed not that the kitchen was closed, not that orders were done for the evening, but I digress. I’m sorry my negative review bothered you, i will however leave it up as I know I would have appreciated seeing something like this before coming. I am not sure how this is unfair to you as you have an overall very well rated establishment, my words aren’t going to lead to a decline in your patronage and Im sure you’ll continue to do just fine- especially considering, as you said, this seems to be an never before made complaint. Surely if this is just an issue of my misunderstanding and confusion then others will see this and this negative review will be written off. I’ll end by saying this- not everyone is going to be satisfied with your service, that’s part of business, and it’s entirely fair for dissatisfied people to respectfully share their experiences. You cannot please all of the people all...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Mad Mad Vegan in Madrid, Spain and it was truly an unforgettable experience. As a vegan, finding restaurants that offer delicious plant-based options can sometimes be challenging, but this place surpassed all of my expectations.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly their vegan burger. It was hands down one of the most flavorful and satisfying veggie burgers I have ever had. The patty was made from a blend of vegetables and legumes, and it had the perfect texture - firm on the outside, while moist and juicy on the inside. The combination of spices and seasonings added a burst of flavor that truly elevated the dish. The burger was also topped with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and vegan cheese which complemented the patty beautifully. Every bite was pure bliss.
To complete my meal, I ordered a side of fries which proved to be the perfect accompaniment to the burger. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, these fries were cooked to perfection. The fact that they were made from freshly cut potatoes and not frozen, really added an extra level of quality to the dish. It was evident that Mad Mad Vegan takes pride in using fresh ingredients to deliver the best possible flavors.
Furthermore, the ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, willing to answer any questions I had about the ingredients or preparation methods. The whole dining experience was delightful, and I felt like I was being well taken care of throughout my visit.
In addition to their amazing vegan burger and fries, Mad Mad Vegan also offers a wide range of other plant-based options that cater to different tastes and dietary preferences. From salads to wraps and even vegan desserts, there is something to please everyone.
Overall, my experience at Mad Mad Vegan was nothing short of outstanding. If you find yourself in Madrid and are looking for an exceptional vegan dining experience, I highly recommend paying this place a visit. The combination of their amazing burger, perfectly cooked fries, and welcoming atmosphere makes it a must-try for all plant-based food enthusiasts....
Read moreIf you have serious allergies be very aware of this place. My wife is Celiac, and is allergic to dairy and eggs before we ordered she gave the server a card stating her allergies in Spanish and English (we speak English) the server had good English as well. He told us that the restaurant is fully vegan and there are no eggs or dairy on the premises, he did say that they can accomodate gluten free. My wife asked him what he recommended that was gluten free and he told us the mad signature burger with cajun fries was the best, so she ordered it. We double checked they had a seperate gluten free fryer and he confirmed. The food came out and my wife confirmed that the meal was gluten free vegan and he confirmed but she was hesitant as we had eaten at a gluten free restaurant the night before in Madrid and the bread looked completely different. She started with the fries and they seemed to be okay and then she looked at the burger and saw the crispy onions and asked me if I thought this was correct as we haven't ever seen gluten free crispy onions before, I confirmed with her that the server was thorough and confirmed that it was gluten free and vegan. She took a few bites of the burger and started to get a hive below her bottom lip, we started discussing if it was safe or not and the server all of a sudden came running over and said "you asked for gluten free right? That is not gluten free, are you okay? I forgot to tell the chef". We were in shock. After confirming with us multiple times that it was safe and turned out not to be was horrifying. He made my wife a new meal that was apparently safe but we had a hard time trusting it. She did end up eating the new meal and the food was okay but she was panicked the entire time. My wife ended up having a reaction but is okay. I strongly recommend thinking twice about this restaurant especially if...
