Great coffee & simple but good food in a chill atmosphere.

❗️NOTE: You have to order at the bar! There is a small menu at the bar or you can scan a QR code thats on the wooden pole 😉

I had the toast with scrambled egg. The bread was toasted with tasty olive oil. The eggs were perfectly fluffy and moist topped with coarse sea salt. Served with a bit of rocket lettuce. The portion looked a bit small and simple for what you pay (compared to Madrid prices) but I was full afterwards. Great for when you want a small breakfast/brunch.

The place itself looks cute, a quiet tiny little cozy place with both locals and tourists. It's perfect when your alone, with one or two friends or your partner. I wouldn't recommend this for bigger groups. Some tables are laptop free.

The service could improve a bit in my opinion. When we entered an employe greeted us and saw us sitting down. We waited for about 5 - 10 minutes. When the staff wasn't busy anymore and just talking to each other I went up to the bar, only to hear from the less than enthusiastic employee that we have to order at the bar. It would have been nice if the employee went up to us to tell us this as we didn't know.

This is only stated on a tiny sticker with a QR code thats high up on a wooden beam/pole which is easily missed.

The menu is also only on a small A4/Letter sized sign at the bar and scannable via the same QR code.

Maybe add this QR code, which is also the menu on...

I come often since I love their gluten free avocado on toast. But their customer service was always somewhat poor. Yesterday’s experience made it clear that they are too focused on their coffee coolness culture above their care for customers. If you are keen to work from there, keep on reading. Have tried to work there many times. they have this rule that defines which tables are ‘laptop’ free and which are not, by adding a small note on the table. Yet im my experience of coming very often in the last 6 months, is that this rule is never respected or enforced. One day, when seeing others with their laptop, I opened mine. A member of staff asked me if I could move to the corner table instead, as ‘you can use your laptop there’ - I did so. Yesterday I came back for the yummy avo on toast, I changed tables in order to be sitting at the one I was told it was allowed. A member of staff, a different one this time, tells me that the table was laptop free from 11am, to what I said that I was told in another occasion that I could use it. He insisted, despite other 3 tables in the area supposedly laptop free being occupied by laptop users. At 11 they went round and ask the others to close their laptops or move to the back tables. They have the right to set rules. Yet need to be clear and fairly enforced. Otherwise once you finish breakfast and paid for it, you discover you actually cannot...

We have always enjoyed the coffee in the Madrid cafes they roast for, so thought we would order some to take back to the UK at the end of our summer visit to Spain. Their website is reassuringly clear: they roast Mondays to Wednesdays for shipping on Tuesdays and Thursdays, orders received after 8pm on Wednesday have to wait for next week's roast. This is just what you want from a speciality roaster. So we ordered on a Friday, and were surprised when the package arrived earlier than expected, on Tuesday. They had sent old coffee, roasted more than three weeks previously. It would be pretty stale by the time we wanted to drink it back in the UK. So we got in touch via email to ask for a refund or, preferably, this week's fresh coffee: no response. Next, we phoned and spoke to somebody in the roastery who said their boss would contact us the following day: but no contact the following day. So we phoned again, this time the boss would get back to us right away: again, no contact. How disappointing to be treated with such contempt. This is certainly not the sort of customer service you would expect from a people-centered...

I recently revisited this cafe, a spot I've always enjoyed for its cozy interior and great music. It's the kind of place you'd love to spend time in, whether catching up with friends or just enjoying a coffee solo. However, my latest experience left me feeling a bit disappointed. I ordered an Americano, but the barista served me a brew instead and charged me a higher price. When I mentioned that I had asked for an Americano, he told me they no longer serve it. I paid and accepted the brew, assuming perhaps the coffee machine was closed for the day. However, the machine was clearly still on and functional, capable of making an Americano (a simple shot of espresso with hot water). What bothered me wasn’t the change in my order, but the lack of communication. I would have appreciated it if the barista had offered the brew as an alternative for the price of an Americano, but instead, I was charged more without any prior explanation. As someone who used to work in coffee shops, I know that things like this can happen, and I hope this was just a one-time oversight. Still, with so many coffee places around—many struggling or closing down—I’d suggest being more mindful of customer service in the future. Small gestures can go a long way in keeping regulars coming back. Overall, I still like the place, but I hope my next visit will be more seamless. Constructive feedback for a cafe that I believe has great potential.

Tom's Café 1 exudes a bustling charm, especially on a Monday afternoon when it's teeming with patrons. Despite being busy, only one staff member handles the workload, which deserves empathy and admiration. Ordering at the counter is the norm, and if dining in, expect your items to be brought to you. I opted for the espresso tonic, a refreshing choice for a hot summer day, and it didn't disappoint. The interior is a visual delight, boasting a photogenic, Instagram-worthy ambiance with its natural greenhouse decor vibe. The atmosphere caters to both productivity and relaxation, with patrons seen working on laptops amidst dedicated tables for non-laptop users—an inclusive touch. Overall, Tom's Café 1 offers not just great beverages but also a welcoming atmosphere that's definitely worth experiencing.
