What a wonderful Sunday meal in Madrid! We made our reservation from New York, and when we arrived for lunch, we were greeted so very warmly by name, which made us instantly comfortable. . A lovely woman, who spoke English, cheerfully assisted us, and helped clarify our choices and was absolutely attentive to all our needs. And, the food.... simply, one word.....delicious! We started by sharing langostino shrimps in a olive oil vinaigrette, which was a special for the day. This dish should absolutely be considered for their regular menu . So unique and so wonderful. For a second dish, we shared their scrumptious robo del toro, which was cooked to perfection. Every bite so very tender, falling off the bone with the lightest of touch. The best I've ever had by far! And, the cheesecake with brandy, a deliciously light and sweet way to end a meal.. A fantastic Sunday meal we will remember for sure! Resrvations a must. This was the first non-touristy, traditional Spanish restaurant I went to and they were just as friendly as could be (for a change, I wasn’t asked if I was African before being seated). The waiter/owner was welcoming and the atmosphere was chill as could be. I got served some interesting appetizers (new flavors introduced) which paired great with the wine recommended. I had the oxtail with potatoes and a very savory gravy. Again went great with the wine. I enjoyed this place so much that I missed them during the initial lockdown. Now that they’re open again after 8 months of being closed, I can’t wait to stop in and enjoy some of that good ole, neighborhood...

The restaurant has nice ambiance, but we were disappointed overall. One of the 4 artichokes was stone cold in the middle (ie still slightly frozen). I told the waiter when he collected the plates (in broken Spanish, but it’s clear what I was saying) and he just shrugged. This is an expensive place for Madrid and the food/service didn’t live up to expectations. Tables around us got a free shot after their meal, but we weren’t offered one.
