We recently had the pleasure of dining at COYA Marbella..
After a very rocky start, we had booked almost three months in advance, directly via email, later we received the confirmation for our booking and all was secured - in plenty good time.
A few weeks before our booking I reached out via email just to confirm our table was still reserved (being that it was booked 9-10 weeks earlier), I had a speedy response from the front of house confirming our table for two, and that they looked forward to welcoming me.
Just days later, I received an automatic cancellation email ?
On reaching out to the same Front of House, they had advised that i hadn’t paid a deposit and so that my booking had been cancelled. Despite confirmation just days earlier from staff suggesting all was booked, nothing else was required from us just that look forward to having us. Bizarre!
We were not advised by any staff in advance that a deposit was required. We were later advised that it was in the T&C’s and that we should’ve paid via a link, we never received a link, nor did anyone offer a curtesy call in advance to suggest our booking would be cancelled should we not resolve - otherwise we would have ? Even despite us reaching out to confirm, TWICE !
After some serious moaning, the manager reached out very apologetically that despite their mistake and miscommunication - they could not offer us a table as it was fully booked. It was just not possible, not a single table in the house !
So - we were then offered a table at COYA CLUB instead. Which is a nightclub/entertainment scene for larger parties. We were a couple, on a table of two.
While the entertainment was fantastic and second to none. The food was not great, we had the special - Seabass on some rice. Chicken, which was gritty and fatty, and some sides. The white wine was of poor quality, even the more expensive bottles.
The manager advised we had the table until 00:00. At 23:30 the waiter advised he needed the table, ten minutes later we began to feel pressured to leave. A larger table began approaching and half sat on each others laps next to us, waiting for our table - we still had half a bottle of wine!
The bill included a cover charge, entertainment charge and service charge, after taking off the service charge, the waiter clicked his fingers and demanded we leave. He was immediately very rude despite us chasing him all night for more drinks, we had asked for the bill twice.
In a nutshell - the booking process was extremely unorganised, resulting in us accepting a table in the other restaurant, which really should be for drinks after dinner only. Unless you are a large party. Despite no fault of our own was our original COYA table just next door cancelled, which is an open air restaurant. A 9pm table for two, for dinner in the underground nightclub is not ideal. Especially when you are in Marbella for the sunshine and warm air.
The food was poor, service even worse and all at a very high price ! Wait staff need a strong lesson in customer service and to be more attentive to guests when charging three separate tips !
Never will i re-attend. The Puerto Romano hotel offers much better...
Read moreDinner at COYA Marbella was an extraordinary culinary journey and one of the most exciting dining experiences I’ve had in Marbella. Located in the luxurious Puente Romano resort, COYA brings its globally renowned concept of contemporary Peruvian cuisine to the Costa del Sol, blending fine dining with vibrant atmosphere and world-class service.
The setting is stunning. The design combines elegance with a tropical, bohemian feel – lush greenery, warm lighting, and artistic details that create an immersive, exotic ambiance. It feels both glamorous and intimate, making it perfect for a romantic evening, a stylish dinner with friends, or even a special celebration.
The service was impeccable. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. They guided us through the concept of sharing plates, explained the origins of different dishes, and made excellent recommendations. Everything was delivered with precision and care, yet in a relaxed, welcoming way.
The food at COYA is the true star. The ceviches were fresh, zesty, and perfectly balanced, while the tiraditos showcased the creativity of the kitchen. Grilled meats and seafood were cooked to perfection, full of bold flavors, and beautifully presented. Each dish felt like a work of art, both visually and in taste. The cocktails, inspired by Latin American flavors, were another highlight – inventive, refreshing, and expertly mixed.
Later in the evening, the atmosphere shifted into a livelier, more vibrant mood with music that matched the energy of the space. It created the perfect balance between fine dining and a stylish, upbeat night out.
COYA is certainly a premium experience, but it fully lives up to its reputation. For anyone in Marbella who appreciates exceptional cuisine, outstanding service, and a glamorous setting, COYA Marbella is a...
Read moreI had an extremely disappointing and frankly racist experience at COYA Club in Marbella. From the moment we arrived, we were treated as if we didn’t belong. We were offered a table hidden behind a wall — clearly not a desirable location — and when we politely declined, we were taken to the manager.
The manager’s behavior was shockingly rude and unprofessional. Rather than trying to accommodate us respectfully, he spoke to us in an arrogant, condescending manner. He offered us seats at the bar — even after we made it clear that we don’t drink. When we declined that as well, he offered us the same original table we had refused, now with just a single glass of champagne, as if that was somehow an upgrade.
Even more insulting, before we had a chance to respond to that “offer,” he abruptly said he would refund us — without even waiting for our agreement. That move made it painfully obvious that they simply didn’t want us there, and that the refund was a way to dismiss us altogether.
I did not pay to be treated like I was unwelcome or invisible. This experience was not only unacceptable — it was humiliating. COYA Marbella failed on every level, especially in hospitality, professionalism, and basic respect. I would strongly advise anyone, especially those who expect to be treated with dignity, to stay far away...
