As Vegans in Andalusia is not so easy to find a place where to eat in the middle of the Old town, especially if you're look for an elegant and pet friendly place...by chance, my girlfriend, me and our dog stopped just for curiosity to look at the menu of this super elegant and well located place called "Candela"...4 vegan options, awesome, worth of Michelin stars for taste, ambient and service...we had the pleasure to have a whole dining room for us with a table at the balcony on the first floor of the restaurant and even meet and chat with Michael the owner, such a humble, funny, elegant man that makes the experience even more special. The manager Phil, also sommelier and bartender welcome and guide us through this unforgettable experience. All the waiters and the Chef are elegant, polite, friendly and well prepared. This combination of elements, with the position of the "Candela" in the middle of the Old Town made our night. Good news, they're creating a new Vegan menu with even more options so even us Vegans could enjoy an elegant, sophisticated night in the center of this amazing city. Worth of Michelin stars is surprising how prices are really fair and we ensure you'll not leave the restaurant hungry, portions are generous. 5 out of 5, look forward come back and try the new items and of course have again what we ate tonight. Thanks Candela for the night...
Read moreVisited here for the first time tonight based on the amazing reviews and left feeling underwhelmed. I was torn on giving this place 3 or 4 stars as I feel it's somewhere in between but felt they deserved 4 stars given the very friendly staff, nice atmosphere, the great location, and the reasonable pricing given its prime location.
Obviously the most important aspect of any restaurant is the food, and both my wife and I found the food to be nice but nothing more than that.
Starters: I ordered the pate and only finished half of it (albeit this was my fault as I didn't ask for clarification on what type of pate it was) - it turned out to be a mixture of veal and chicken - not something I was a fan of but may be you will be. My wife had the Pil Pil which was nice but better to be found in cheaper restaurants.
Mains: I had the Duck which was cooked very nicely for the two outside pieces but the whole centre was overcooked which was a little disappointing. The sauce and potato were tasty.
My wife had the seabass and was satisfied.
Our daughter had the pasta with olive oil and parmesan for €12. Thought this was a bit rich for what looked and tasted like pot noodles with some parmesan shavings.
I had a cappuccino to finish which was actually very nice.
All in all, it was nice but wouldn't be making...
Read moreWe tried a couple of times to eat at this restaurant because of the high reviews and finally we had dinner there on Sunday night. When we got there, the restaurant was not too busy so we were surprised on why we had to ask for a bottle of water three times before they brought it. I figured because of Sunday night, they may be short staffed. The food arrived and it was good which I give it 5 starts. There were two girls sitting at the table next to us. When they got their check, they were surprised of the additional items. They were expecting a $70-80 Euro bill and the check was for $150. the waiter apologized and said, it was the wrong bill. No big deal, this can happen anywhere. When I received our bill (which I hardly ever check), I noticed we were charged $42 for a glass of wine. I asked the server and he said sorry, we charged you for a bottle instead of a glass. He made the correction and we paid.
It was very strange for me to see our table and the table next to us having issues with the bill. Hopefully, this is not how this...
