Our first visit to Tipsy Bee last night, there was a great buzz in the air, and we were greeted by the saxophone player who set a fine mood. The service staff, on the other hand, were definitely understaffed and had no time for us. It was a pretty full restaurant at this point. Got seated at our reserved table and got some service pretty fast. Drinks were fast to arrive. ....and that was that!
Waited over an hour for our food, we rang the service bell multiple times, which got ignored, and finally, when I hailed down a service staff, he said they forgot to fire away our main courses and I told the waiter that we haven't even got our starters yet. So there was a bit of a shuffle, and we finally got our starters and kids' food.
I asked the service staff to fire our mains straight away, so we dont have to wait. About 40 mins after that came our mains... at this point, we'd been sitting for almost 2 hours and pretty over the whole experience. The steak tenderloin while sounding great on paper was very underwhelming, served in an ikea plastic box. The sauce wasn't very pleasant, and the grilled piece of bell peppar was pointless on the plate. No garlic butter in sight, unfortunately. The meat was grilled too hard on the outside and had a burnt flavour, not the grilled flavour we were expecting and not quite medium rare.
The first set of wings was juicy and yummy. We ordered some more for the kids, and they were dry and hard.
The iberico pork was like a fusion stir fry that had promise, tender bits of pork but the potatoes didn't really match the dish.
It's definitely a place for drinks and entertainment, but the food and service fell short by a mile. The sax player made the night, and he gets...

We reserved a table here to celebrate our final evening out, expecting a nice dinner. Unfortunately, the entire experience was a complete disaster from the start.
It began with the waitress spilling an Espresso Martini all over my boyfriend’s white pants and my shoes while attempting to shake the cocktail at the table. Instead of apologizing or offering any help, she simply poured the rest of the drink into the glass and walked away like nothing happened.
We then ordered a starter and our main dishes. Shockingly, they were served at the same time, completely disregarding basic dining etiquette. The so-called “starter” was nothing more than a tiny bowl of chips with some melted cheese thrown on top – and it cost €9! Absolutely insulting.
Then came the worst part: my main dish had a hair in it. I understand that accidents can happen, but what followed was just outrageous. I informed the staff, and they took my plate away — only to bring back the exact same plate a few minutes later, pretending it had been replaced. I had taken a photo before noticing the hair, so I could immediately tell nothing had changed.
As “compensation,” we were offered a slightly larger version of the complimentary shot that everyone gets when paying the bill, and we were told we could share one dessert. Share it?! After everything that happened, we had absolutely no interest in staying any longer.
We had chosen this place to make our last night special, but it turned into one of the most disappointing and infuriating dining experiences we’ve ever had. Poor service, careless mistakes, and zero accountability....
Read moreWe visited Tipsy Bee three times during our stay in Puerto Rico this June. The first time for drinks and for food as well on the other two occasions. Our experience was excellent on each occasion.
The venue is in an elevated position, modern and refined without being stuffy, featuring a black and amber bee and honeycomb theme throughout. It has a lovely ambience. It's also in a good location on the main road at the end of the commercial centre.
The staff are an absolute credit to the place. Friendly, attentive, engaging, professional. You couldn't ask for more! A special mention has to go to Susanna who really stands out in a great crowd. A lovely young woman who really enhanced our experience with her big smile, humour and personal touch. Thank you Susanna!
Do you like a cocktail? You'll love both the unique and traditional cocktails here which are high quality and really well presented. The Sangria was also great as was the local beer I had.
The food menu is small but varied and has something for everyone, with lighter bites as well as larger dishes. Between us we had the fully loaded nachos, rice bowls, drunken beef stew, fish and chips and ribs. Every last mouthful was delicious! I've been eating ribs for decades and the ones at Tipsy Bee are up there with the best!
This might all sound like it's going to be expensive. Maybe a little more than some cheaper restaurants in the centre but not much. What's more important to a lot of us is quality and value for money. The Tipsy Bee won't be beaten here.
Just go! You won't regret it.
I almost forgot to mention the wonderful...
