What a fantastic place! Just a stone’s throw from the vibrant heart of Puerto Rico, La Mattina is more than just a café—it’s a statement of intent. From the name itself, which suggests a perfect spot to start your day, to the delightful experience it offers, this place truly stands out.

Breakfast here is a real treat, with a vast selection of both sweet and savory options to suit every taste. Whether you’re in the mood for fluffy pancakes, nutritious bowls, a hearty English breakfast, or traditional Spanish tostadas, La Mattina has you covered. And let’s talk about the atmosphere—impeccably clean, warm, and inviting, with an elegant yet relaxed decor. There’s a touch of Italian-style charm but with an even better twist (and I say this as an Italian who has visited plenty of "bars" back home). The floral accents and colorful details add a vibrant yet cozy touch, while the chairs and tables are exceptionally comfortable. Plus, you can choose to sit either inside or outside, making it a great spot to unwind, chat, or even get some work done.

Speaking of which, the staff is absolutely wonderful—friendly, professional, and incredibly accommodating. They handled my special requests and dietary variations without hesitation, making the experience even more enjoyable.

We first came here for lunch and loved it so much that we returned for an afternoon coffee and snack the next day. On both occasions, we ended up staying for a couple of hours to work on our laptops, and no one made us feel rushed or unwelcome. While I wouldn’t want to officially advertise it as a coworking spot (after all, it’s a place to eat and enjoy), it has definitely become one of our favorite spots to be productive while enjoying great food and atmosphere.

Now, let’s talk about the food—simply outstanding. We shared a pizza, and while it wasn’t a classic Italian-style pizza, it was juicy and full of flavor. For lunch, we ordered a salmon and arugula bagel, along with a spiced toast featuring mozzarella and cucumber—both were absolutely divine. And for our afternoon treat, we indulged in a classic Spanish "tarta de queso" and a cherry Italian-style "crostata." Both desserts were bursting with flavor, beautifully presented, and simply irresistible.

If you’re looking for a place that offers great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and top-notch service, La Mattina is an absolute must-visit. Whether you’re stopping by for breakfast, lunch, or just a coffee break, this charming café will quickly become one of your favorites—just as it has for us!

Went Here two days in a row. Great food and coffee but The second Day The male Waiter was very rude and made a bad experience. 20 sec after ordering I changed my Bowl. If you’re in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria, and yearning for a breakfast or brunch spot that echoes the charm of Copenhagen’s trendy cafes, La Mattina Kitchen and Bar is your go-to destination. Their freshly baked croissants, indulgent carrot cake, and delightful cookies are just a few of the treats that make this place special.

The cozy interior and inviting outdoor terrace create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a leisurely morning. Plus, it’s dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your furry friend along.

Pro Tip: If you prefer your coffee strong, ask for a cortado largo—you won’t be disappointed.

We have just returned home from a 7 day holiday in Puerto Rico. We found La Mattina on our first full day for breakfast and didn't bother going anywhere else during our stay. Coffee (Cortado) and food was excellent. We had the Eggs Benedict with bacon, English breakfast, granola bowl (with loads of lovely Greek yoghurt, banana and honey) and croissants. All fantastic. The service was also excellent. We were mainly served by a young woman (didn't get her name) who was fantastic and she quickly recognised us and knew which coffees we wanted - including my wife's decaf. Sadly we had an early departure on our final day, so were unable to make a 7th visit - but we will definitely do so again when we return to Puerto Rico.
