Asian Ben 2023 — Restaurant in Nerja

Very nice service and she was very kind. We ordered and we got the food very quickly which was nice but we will also the only people in the restaurant. We arrived at 17:30.

They have something called mouthwatering chicken on the menu. I cannot underline enough how it actually stop my mouth from watering. It was absolutely horrible and the chicken skin was soft and the sauce tasteed like cigarettes. It ruined my taste buds for the rest of the meal.

We also got the dumplings, and they were very nice but somewhat average. When we chose this restaurant, we saw that it had 4.7 and rating that’s why we visited. It’s located very close to the balcony of Europe. But it situated in our back yard like place. Not too cozy, but a lot of restaurants here. So there is no view.

We also tried the Peking duck and that was actually the better option. But again my taste buds had been ruined by the sauce from the chicken. I would not eat here again ever and I’m sorry to say so as the service was absolutely kind and helpful..

I just want other people to have lower expectations than 4.7 stars. This place is a maximum of four stars but I haven’t had the main courses yet.

If you’d like Chinese food, I’m sure you would like this place. It’s just not for me.

• Update I appreciate the owners reply. I have never had chinese food like this in any of my travels. Maybe if I was chinese then it would be a favorite. But I think the name for the dish "Mouthwatering chicken" is not helping. It could be called "traditional lukewarm soft-skin chicken with chinese special sauce". My wife, myself and a friend dined in Asian Ben on Tuesday evening, the food and service was excellent, we all choose to eat Thai dishes, we shared starters of vegetable spring rolls and prawns in crumb and deep fried, we had a sweet chilli sauce to accompany the dishes, both were delicious. For the mains, I had the Bangkok chilli sauce with vegetables, my wife had Chicken in a Thai red curry and our friend had a stir fried rice, with prawn and pineapple, this was served in a half pineapple, we all thoroughly enjoyed the our food. I have eaten in another 3 Thai restaurant in Nerja and Asian Ben is the best one for authenticity of the flavours. Another winner for me was the menu, it wasn't a large menu, you didn't feel overwhelmed by the selection, a very good restaurant that I highly recommend. Great Asian food - Chinese and Thai. Located just off of the Balcone in Nerja. Service was great but the winner was the food. Salt pepper ribs and the Thai duck chilli dish with lemongrass was to die for! I feel the tables could have been laid or presented differently rather than left bare to give more kerb appeal but aside from that this place is a must try. We'll hopefully find an opportunity for a revisit before our time in Nerja is up.

Reply: Terrace is a great space. Thinking as a customer walking by, what would draw me in if I haven't seen such amazing reviews? That would be things like candles on certain empty tables, maybe flowers, maybe a bottle with glasses and certainly cutlery and maybe even plates. Doesn't have to be all tables, but our first thought walking towards the restaurant was whether you were closing for the evening. Hope that helps in some way.
