Visited today to try the menu del dia. When we arrived we were informed that the terrace is closed until the evening time and we would have to sit out the front. Initial impression of the staff was that they were pushy and aggressive and were in an awful hurry to take our drinks order to ensure our custom. Once the drinks arrived the staff were in no hurry to take our order and when they did they got it wrong. I ordered a meat samosa but it came out as a vegetable one. My partner ordered a chicken pakora which was dried out and overcooked. When the starters were taken away and I was handed back my cutlery I was instantly struck by the fact we weren't being given clean cutlery for our main course. After what seemed like a long wait we were given the plates for our main course but about 5 minutes after that the same waiter returned and took up our plates and said something in Spanish, and gave our plates to the couple sitting next to us. I thought this was outrageous as there was a stack of plates directly adjacent to our table. When our food eventually did arrive it was thrown in front of us by another equally obnoxious waiter without a word. My lamb Madras was tough and tasteless while my partners Tikka masala wasn't much better. The portions were too small and the rice was not close to sufficient. After our food had been collected I ordered the bill and like everything else, this took far too long to arrive. Funnily enough, as soon as I placed the money down on the bill a member of staff was quick to pick it up and take it inside, again without a word of thanks. We waited for a few minutes, and I realised that they were not bringing out my change. At this point I had had enough so I stormed inside and requested my change. The staff looked at me quizzingly and deliberated among themselves before finally giving me my change. Overall a horrible experience that I couldn't possibly...

I was quite disappointed with my experience at this Indian restaurant (Mum) in Nerja. While the sauces were tasty, the rest of the meal reminded me of something you might find in a supermarket's microwave section. The meat was particularly disappointing—dry and clearly reheated, possibly prepared a day or two earlier. I found myself doubting if anything was freshly made.

The service was another letdown. Though the staff wasn't outright rude, they were completely disinterested and unfriendly. There was no eye contact or smiles when serving the food or drinks, and when they brought extra naan (which was one of the few highlights), it was practically tossed onto the table without a word. The only time they showed any warmth was when presenting the check, likely in hopes of securing a tip. Unfortunately for them, this was the first time in six years that we didn’t leave a single euro as a tip.

Adding to the negative experience was the cleanliness of the restaurant. The state of the toilets was appalling—absolutely filthy and far from what you'd expect in a dining establishment. The chairs were another issue; the "leather" was stained black from where people and staff had handled them, clearly indicating they hadn't been cleaned in a long time.

I’m honestly baffled by the positive reviews this place has received. It feels like I dined at an entirely different restaurant than the one others are praising. After nearly a week in Nerja, I can confidently say there are far better dining...

The menú del día is hard to beat. €12.50 for a huge amount of food: an appetizer, three curries, rice or naan, and a dessert. We tried the samosas and the onion bhaji as appetizers. Both are very generous portions (2 large samosas, 4 onion bhaji) and both were quite good. For the main, you choose two of the three curries. The two curries I ordered were alright: the shrimp madras, which was tasty, and the paneer tikka masala, which was far too sweet for my taste (but I like my Indian food savory and spicy, unlike the sweet version you often find in Spain). The 3rd curry (no choice) was a lentil soup which was mostly water and a large piece of zucchini. Nothing was spicy in the least, which was disappointing for me. By far the worst part was the “dessert”, which was just a bowl of semolina. It was flavorless and sat untouched. Unfortunately, the server brought it to the table without asking if we wanted it or telling us what it was. If we’d known it was going to be a bowl of semolina, we would’ve just passed on the dessert since we were both so full already from the appetizers and main course. Overall, it’s a cheap, decent place to eat a large quantity of food. But it’s far from the best Indian restaurant in the area.

Some of our family members are vegans. They were recommended the Indian restaurant, Mum. we drove from our village in order to eat here. We like the set menu at a price of 12 euros. Choose one first course, two courses from the curry menu, a regular side dish of vegetables in lentil sauce, Indian naan bread, and dessert. In addition we ordered white rice for the children. Papadam- which is a kind of big, thin cracker. The vegan member of the family, ordered a dish of vegetables in vindaloo sauce - very spicy. I ordered onion bhagi for a starter, so the vegans could also taste it. For one main course I chose shrimp in spinach sauce and Indian cheese-sag paneer. Second main course, I ordered chicken in a sweet curry sauce, called korma. I took naan bread with garlic. The food was very tasty. Subtly seasoned and tasteful. The dessert was a piece of something sweet that I really didn't like and didn't eat. All in all, I had a great time, and so did the rest of my family. In the end we still took leftovers home.
