Anahi — Restaurant in Nerja

Went here after dinner for coffee and cake, about 23.00 on a saturday night. We asked if they were still serving, and were told "we're closing in 20 minutes", but we could still sit down, although I got the feeling they would rather have had us walk on. We sat inside, the tiny terrace was full up, and ordered 3 coffees, 2 cakes, a crepe and an ice cream. The obly thing that would need ro be cooked would have been the crepe, but that must have been too much trouble, as it never arrived. The coffees were undrinkable. When we got up to pay, we were going to be charged for the crepe as well. When we pointed out we never got the crepe, it was removed from the bill, but we never got an apology. € 15 for 3 undrinkable coffees, 2 cakes and an ice cream is expensive, even if the service would have been great, which it was not. Come for the views and sangria. The terrace here is gorgeous! It overlooks the vibrant azure beach framed between the cliffs and the Balcon de Europa, with a nice breeze lifting off the water to keep you cool. You must order the (liter of!) sangria, it is the best we’ve had in all of Spain so far. The food is nothing to write home about and seems to cater to tourists in their offerings of burgers and pizzas, but it does the job of a casual lunch. The burger is pretty good and very filling especially at only 4-5 euros! Despite it being a popular spot, we were able to get the best table on the terrace both times we came, even during peak hours in the peak of summer. The service is also great. Anahi has been around for many, many years and has always provided good food, be it breakfast, a snack or a full meal. Go through the (narrow) entrance and you will find a small balcony area with great views of Calahonda beach and out to sea.

There are a few seats near the entrance where you can grab a snack - or a cake on this visit - and watch the world go by.

There is invariably a pretty good selection of cakes and savouries, and today I was tempted by an Oreo Chocolate cake to go with a nice cup of coffee. Incidentally, the coffee here is always hot, and by that I mean hotter than most other places, as well as being good.
