Ópera Marítim l Restaurante italiano Mallorca — Restaurant in Palma

I booked a table inside the Opera Restaurant in Mallorca through their official website. When we arrived, a bald man in a sweaty shirt told us there were no seats available inside because it was already full – even though I was able to select the indoor area online. This makes absolutely no sense to me. I cannot understand how a restaurant fails to manage something as simple as a reservation. This is a basic requirement that every restaurant should have under control nowadays. The service was terrible, and the staff’s appearance was unhygienic. On top of that, the restaurant tries to present itself as fine dining but serves food on paper, which makes no sense at all.

As for the food: The starter was okay, the main course was also okay. But when the bill arrived, we noticed they had charged us for an extra focaccia we never ordered. According to the receipt, there was suddenly an extra €62 added – something we had neither ordered nor eaten. It felt like they tried to sneak this charge into the bill.

If you are used to good service, cleanliness, and honesty – as we are in Switzerland – I cannot recommend...

This is probably the most disappointing food I had in years. The food is shockingly (!) bad. It genuinely felt like a rip off..

My gnocchi starter was overcooked and mushy and the “carbonera element” a complete mess. Pretentious and horrible. (I wonder if they ever had a real carbonara themselves..)

I was compensated with a salate to make up for the gnocchi, but it was….horrendous. Dull, uninspired and SWIMMING is greasy sauce. Totally overpowering.

My main course (fish) was a joke. It was soooooo tiny…(see pic)

And my desert….

Well it never came. Even after I pointed out it never arrived I had to go back after 20 minutes and ask again.

The staff wants to pretend they’re high level, but they lack basic skills / etiquette. They interrupt you mid conversation in the most rude way, they touch you physically in order to be “amical” and in general just really not up their game.

The interior is VERY GENERIC if you like a 13-a-dozen wanna-be gentrified interior, this is your place. But it’s blenddddd..

It’s really a pity, but they charge quite a lot of money and everything is just so...

Servicio de cena la noche del 9 de agosto a las 21h. Habíamos reservado para 3 un par de semanas antes y avisamos por correo que era para un cumpleaños preguntando por la actuación esa noche.

Nos contestaron amablemente por mail indicando que sería la soprano Maia Planas y parte de su repertorio.

Tuvieron el detalle de ponernos la mesa decorada para la ocasión con purpurina y un lazo rojo, en una mesa tranquila.

La actuación fue estupenda. Una voz soberbia y muy profesional, teniendo en cuenta lo difícil que es cantar ópera entre camareros, clientes, mesas y sillas y el ruido que se genera. La soprano tuvo el detalle de cantar cerca nuestro y saludarnos al acabar su actuación. Creo que el 29-30 de noviembre actúa en el GRAN Teatro del Liceo de Barcelona con La flauta mágica de Mozart. Oportunidad para disfrutar de su arte.

Sobre la comida, pedimos entrantes:

Focaccia Barese. No lo pude probar porque mi hija se lo zampó entero. Según ella, lo mejor de los entrantes.

Gyozas caseras. En su punto, muy jugosas.

Minis pane Carasau. Quizá lo más flojito, al ser la pasta crujiente y hueca conviene comerlos de un bocado, no cortarlos. Aceptable.

Rollito crujiente. Lo que más me gustó. Una auténtica amalgama de sabores, crujiente y tierno a la vez, suave y potente a partes iguales. Excelente.

Segundos. Pizza Soprano. Pasta al dente. Grosor ideal. Suave pero intensa por el jamón. Muy buena.

Spaghetti gamberi e Zucchine. Fui mi petición, las gambas estaban suaves y jugosas con un toque afrutado. La pasta muy suave y en su punto con el toque fresco de los cherry. Excelente.

Spagetti carbonara "2 huevos". No lo pude probar. La presentación excelente, y por lo que le duró al comensal debía estar de rechupete.

BEBIDA No somos muy de vino, así que pedimos una sangría de jarra que en el verano sacia mucho. Venía muy bien afrutada y con el toque dulce adecuado. Muy buena.

POSTRES LIMONMISÚ Esponjoso, suave y digestivo perfecto para acabar la cena sin empacho.

BROWNIE DE Chocolate Muy bien presentado y el sabor esperado. Muy bueno.

COCTELERIA NEXT-SPRESSO MARTINI El Café domina y hace casi desaparecer el resto de ingredientes, por lo que acaba más siendo un café aromatizado. No nos gustó mucho como cóctel.

AMARETTO SOUR Excelente. Si te gusta el sabor a limón, un imprescindible. Nos peleamos por la copa.

SERVICIO Nos llegaron a servir 3 camareras distintas. Muy amables las 3. Los platos llegaron a los tres al tempo y los entrantes también salieron a la vez. El tiempo de espera entre platos perfecto. Nos invitaron a varios chupitos fresquitos muy ricos.

PRECIO La ubicación, la actuación en directo, el servicio, el local y la comida valen el precio. Aproximadamente 50 € por comensal. Yo pagaría eso solo por escuchar a Maia Planas cantando al lado mio cualquier aria, cosa que sucedió varias veces esa noche. Así que como si no hubiera...
