Worst hostel I ever stayed at (and I've been to a lot). Would give zero stars if possible. Booked for 3 nights but had to leave because it was so bad (several other people in our group left too). Meaning we had to find and book somewhere else last minute at a greater expense. Move our stuff across town and basically remain stressed and tired all day. We had only 2 hours of sleep due to: - lots of noise - a bright red flashing light from the smoke detector on the ceiling (they flash all night right above the top bunk beds) - no curtains or shutters on the room windows so light gets in from early in the morning - the bunk beds shake and sway a lot whenever someone above moves. - 3 tier bunk beds but the third tier of mattresses are more or less on the floor. - broken air conditioning unit. Also worth mentioning that there aren't enough electrical sockets for everybody to charge their phones / devices. Parking is a nightmare because the free street parking spaces were always taken. All of the blue zones around the hostel are pay and display (expensive I've heard). Two people in our group got confused with the parking outside and ended up with 60 euro fines. Not the hostel's fault but worth mentioning I think. Provided breakfast tastes very bad. Cheap supermarket croissants wrapped individually in plastic and nescafé instant coffee.. Didn't taste the rest. 2 showers to each wash room so not very private (see picture). The doors have locks but there are two showers to each room. You have to mop the floors in the shower after use, clean and dry your own dishes (and put them back) and take the sheets off your own bed to take them to reception when you check out. It's one redeeming feature is that it's close to some nice restaurants and the harbour. If you can enjoy that while being severely sleep deprived then this is the place for you. In my opinion though, Mallorca is too beautiful to spoil by staying somewhere as shockingly bad as the Urban Hostel. Value yourself and stay somewhere nicer. There are options that are just as inexpensive that are far better.

Urban Hostel Palma The good, bad and ugly So it’s well situated, really near to the marina and 5 mins walk from the old town. Staff are friendly and there’s parking right out front for your scooter (free too). Really nice gelato place next to the park out the front too Breakfast is basic but nice and started me off for the day. The dining area is kept clean and tidy and bedrooms seemed clean enough. Now for the not so good…… There’s parts that REALLY badly need repair, e.g there’s screws missing from various parts of the beds (on mine from the safety rail, so nothing stopping you rolling out the top bunk at night). Upstairs there’s a door that looks like it’s about been kicked in, but isn’t repaired. For some reason no one of the bathrooms seem to be cleaned on any level, from the disabled toilet downstairs to the toilets on the top floor either, so they loook naaaasty. The sinks have got grime and hair all over them on every floor and the showers have looooads of empty shampoo bottles all over the place. Also out of our window on the roof was strewn with rubbish that looks to have been thrown out the windows. Would I stay there again ?, yes as it’s cheap and central, and I don’t mind a bit of grime, but it’s a hard pass for any clean freaks. It’s bizarre as I saw staff cleaning the dining area at night, but why they don’t also clean at least the disabled toilet downstairs too I have no clue. @ shortbreakscheapescapes

The hostel was nice, with clean rooms. The bathrooms could use some improvement, but cleanliness partly depends on the guests. The bedsheet provided didn’t fit the bed, and the bed cover was noisy when turning. The breakfast was nice, though a bit more variety between days would be appreciated. At check-in, I was told I could leave my luggage, but at check-out, I was informed that using the luggage room wasn't possible. This wasn't much trouble as I found a nearby luggage locker, thanks to the convenient location. The biggest issue was the noise at night. The other guests in my room had no regard for the common dorm rules, unpacking, getting ready, brushing their teeth, whispering, and giggling after 2:30 AM for three consecutive nights. While I'm not easily disturbed, this was excessive. It would be helpful if the staff could advise guests on dorm etiquette and perhaps take stricter actions if they don't comply.

DO NOT STAY HERE – Completely Unacceptable Experience||||I’ve been traveling and staying in hostels around the world for over three years, and I’ve never experienced anything remotely close to the DISASTER that was Urban Hostel in Palma. This place is grossly understaffed and completely unprepared to handle even the most basic emergencies.||||My two friends and I booked three beds in a four-bed room for two nights. The first night was fine. The hostel uses a four-digit code to access the rooms, and ours worked on Saturday night and Sunday morning. But when we returned at 11:00 p.m. on Sunday night to go back to our room, the code suddenly stopped working.||||We tried several times, but the door wouldn’t open. We went down to reception for help—only to discover there was no one there. A sign said reception hours are 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m., meaning the HOSTEL IS COMPLETELY UNSTAFFED DURING THE NIGHT. This is not okay.||||Desperate, we knocked on every door in the hostel trying to find someone who worked there. No luck. We then tried calling the number listed both on Google and in our confirmation email. Still no answer. While searching the hostel for any posted emergency contacts, we heard something surreal: THE PHONE WAS RINGING FROM INSIDE A LOCKED CLOSET. We could literally hear it through the door. ||||Our passports, computers, medication, and all our personal belongings were locked inside the room, and we were starting to panic—especially since we had a 5:50 a.m. flight and needed to leave the hostel by 4:00 a.m.||||We even called the police for guidance, but they weren’t able to get in touch with the hostel staff either. After that, we tried a 24-hour locksmith. They responded quickly but said legally they couldn’t help us access the room without permission from someone who worked there.||||With no help in sight, we were forced to sleep on the couches in the common room. We missed our flight and had to purchase expensive last-minute replacements. All of this because a faulty door code locked us out and there was NO ONE TO HELP US.||||At 10:00 a.m., when reception reopened, the front desk staff refunded us for the night—an acknowledgment that this was their fault. DO NOT STAY HERE – Completely Unacceptable Experience

I’ve been traveling and staying in hostels around the world for over three years, and I’ve never experienced anything remotely close to the DISASTER that was Urban Hostel in Palma. This place is grossly understaffed and completely unprepared to handle even the most basic emergencies.
