Bar Restaurante Celler Ca'n Santiago — Restaurant in Palma

On holiday in Canpastilla and called into this restuarant as it looks really nice place...

We fancied something light so opted for a salad I had a tomato and cheese with onions and my wife a tuna salad however when they came my was good but my wife's was really a plain salad with a very small amount of tuna on the side not what I would call a tuna salad.

Then when we got the bill it had cubierto charge on the bill I had never heard of this before so Google it. ... it's basically a service charged masked as a cutlery charge ?

This is my pet hate I think restaurants should leave it to the customer to decide if the service warrants a tip not for them to manditory implement a charge.

Overall the place was nice, food was ok but a bit pricy - but the serviice charge automatically added to you bill which you must pay - I found insulting.

I would advise anyone to go else where as there are many other restuarants in Can Pastilla that have better food and don't charge service charges...but leave the customer to decide if the service and food etc warrants a tip...

Terrible service, rude staff. We arrived at 21:30 having seen it advertised to be open until 00:00. The place was pretty empty with only 3 or 4 current tables eating. After being told pretty bluntly to ‘sit anywhere’ We sat down and waited for quite some time to get a menu. Our table was not prepared, no menu brought over and no drinks offered. When the visibly stressed gentleman approached us with a notepad we asked for just a few minutes more to clarify something on the menu. The man rudely began to close our menus and take them away, saying ‘I cannot help you then’ and ‘I need to close’. Already feeling unwelcome and now feeling rushed we decided to get up and leave. I apologised and said I did not know he was closing early, he decided to carry on shouting obscenities at us as we left. I went to try this restaurant on my holidays with my wife as it was one of the highest rated in the area. I have to say the ratings around the area don't really mean that much!! Usually a restaurant that serve Spanish food, Italian food and German food is a place that I would stay away from. Restaurants that do so many different things usually do badly most of those things! I have no idea why but I order a pizza and it was terrible, very crispy and dry at the bottom. I had some croquettas as well and my wife had some swordfish which was quite good.
