with 300 years of history Ca´n Joan de s ´Aigo is part of our lives, from Christmas to any family celebration, one cannot miss the treat of "chocolate caliente con ensaimadas , cuartos & helado de almendra" they are known by "Joan de s’Aigo came up with the idea of mixing the water which had melted from the “pans de neu” with fruit juices. This was the precursor of today’s ice cream. In the 19th Century the ice produced on the island was not sufficient to meet demand so ice was imported from Barcelona. The first ice cream produced by Can Joan de s’Aigo as we know it today, was almond ice cream and to this day the mill used to grind the almonds for that first ice cream can be seen in our establishment in Can Sanç Street. A short time later Joan de s’Aigo began production of hot chocolate and “ensaimades”.. During our visit, we were hoping to try a variety of ensaimadas, particularly the ones filled with cream and fruits. However, they only had the normal ensaimadas available, which was a bit disappointing. The classic ensaimadas were delicious, but we missed having the opportunity to sample the more varied offerings.

In summary, Ca'n Joan de S'aigo is a nice place to visit for a taste of traditional Mallorcan pastries. While the limited selection of ensaimadas and the cleanliness could be improved, it still offers a pleasant and...

This is indeed a piece of history that lives in Palma town. Entering this place you can indeed see why this place deserves the fame.
We went in and came out happy. Was all of the items great? No. Nonetheless we would recommend the place a must visit for any one coming to visit Palma.
The best item on the menu is the ensaimada. In fact I had the best ensaimada here. My wife who isn't a fan of the Mallorcan dish, loved the chocolate ensaimada at this location. The ice cream is also pretty good.
The savory pie was good but not that great. It could have been warm but the staff served it at room temperature. I don't like my pies being not warm. Also the Spanish hot chocolate was okay. The chocolate used is of good quality but the corn flour that I think they added to thicken the consistency left a strong after taste, which I didn't like.
Anyways do come here for the ensaimada, ice cream, heritage and good service. Don't order...
