Mallorca! Must-see classic afternoon tea☕!!

Ca'n Joan de S'aigo is a charming spot in Palma de Mallorca, steeped in history and known for its delightful traditional pastries. The ambiance is quaint and inviting, making it a nice place to relax and enjoy a taste of Mallorcan culture. During our visit, we were hoping to try a variety of ensaimadas, particularly the ones filled with cream and fruits. However, they only had the normal ensaimadas available, which was a bit disappointing. The classic ensaimadas were delicious, but we missed having the opportunity to sample the more varied offerings. Additionally, we noticed that the floor was quite dirty, which detracted from the overall cleanliness and comfort of the place. Despite this, the experience was still enjoyable, thanks to the cozy atmosphere and the quality of the pastries. In summary, Ca'n Joan de S'aigo is a nice place to visit for a taste of traditional Mallorcan pastries. While the limited selection of ensaimadas and the cleanliness could be improved, it still offers a pleasant and authentic experience.

This place is an institution. Through and through. This is indeed a piece of history that lives in Palma town. Entering this place you can indeed see why this place deserves the fame. We went in and came out happy. Was all of the items great? No. Nonetheless we would recommend the place a must visit for any one coming to visit Palma. The best item on the menu is the ensaimada. In fact I had the best ensaimada here. My wife who isn't a fan of the Mallorcan dish, loved the chocolate ensaimada at this location. The ice cream is also pretty good. The savory pie was good but not that great. It could have been warm but the staff served it at room temperature. I don't like my pies being not warm. Also the Spanish hot chocolate was okay. The chocolate used is of good quality but the corn flour that I think they added to thicken the consistency left a strong after taste, which I didn't like. Anyways do come here for the ensaimada, ice cream, heritage and good service. Don't order anything else.

with 300 years of history Ca´n Joan de s ´Aigo is part of our lives, from Christmas to any family celebration, one cannot miss the treat of "chocolate caliente con ensaimadas , cuartos & helado de almendra" they are known by "Joan de s’Aigo came up with the idea of mixing the water which had melted from the “pans de neu” with fruit juices. This was the precursor of today’s ice cream. In the 19th Century the ice produced on the island was not sufficient to meet demand so ice was imported from Barcelona. The first ice cream produced by Can Joan de s’Aigo as we know it today, was almond ice cream and to this day the mill used to grind the almonds for that first ice cream can be seen in our establishment in Can Sanç Street. A short time later Joan de s’Aigo began production of hot chocolate and “ensaimades”.. Can Joan de s’Aigo became one of the oldest, if not the first, ‘chocolatiers’ in Europe. As time went by, different types of ice-cream appeared on the market as well as traditional pastries known as ‘cuartos”.

In the heart of the city, with traditional decoration, fast & friendly service. You can either sit and enjoy or order an Ensaimada to take away / travel. If you travel to Mallorca and you want to try its best "sweet recipes" this is the Best place...
