Storing foodstuffs in toilets is unacceptable, and so is removing genuine photographs showing it. So I've put the photos back. There are stringent hygiene laws to prohibit this...please sort it out. I've taken off two stars from my original, very positive, review.
Great little Thai 'street food' cafe/restaurant serving a good wholesome range of typical Thai dishes, including asian salads, stir fry noodles and rices, decent Thai curries, soups and thai-burgers. Nice simple starters (the chicken satay is excellent and unusually, the peanut sauce dip accompanying the satay isn't sickly sweet), and the mango, fried banana and thai pancakes make for tasty and appetizing sweets. There's a kids menu as well.
The location is great: right on the Plaza de España, with outside seating and a few tables inside, but the venue is constrained by size, so although it's cosy, and the decor trendy, there's a sense of being a bit cramped if you sit inside. High chairs, wheelchair access and a disabled loo are all available, and it's all on one level.
The staff are delightful, super friendly and helpful - you can tailor-make your noodle, curry and rice dishes, and there's a take-out service served in handy cardboard boxes which make for a hot, filling and tasty lunch if you're on the move. Don't overdo the soy sauce because they already use enough; and use the wooden chopsticks, take them home and recycle them. Value for money is good because the portion sizes are generous, but it's not cheap-cheap - try sharing a starter between two with a main dish each to follow.
But sadly, there's one big no-no: their stock crates of unopened bottled drinks are stored in the disabled toilet, right next to the loo, and this entails me lopping off at least one star, and I've been very generous in that respect. It's absolutely not on guys, it goes against all the hygiene laws, so please don't spoil an overall really good effort by getting fined or...
Read moreFood was tasty, but gave me food poising. 18 hours after eating dinner from this place and the diarrhea still doesn't want to stop. I wasn't unable to work today and maybe not tomorrow. Maybe it was the cold sause with my potatoes, but anyhow, someone is working in this kitchen while having a huge infection. Maybe it will be better in a few weeks, but I would stay away from this place at the moment.
Update: it's now 2,5 days since I got infected. I've been in the hospital since yesterday and finally starting to feel better after strong antibiotics and IV saline solution. The hospital will keep me for observation until at least tomorrow. I've not been able to work since before I ate their food. I would not risk eating at this...
Read moreWe stopped by this place for lunch because we saw that they had a few gluten-free options. The servers were very friendly and attentive. My partner does not speak Spanish and they switched to English right away, which was nice. I always feel bad rating food badly because I‘m so grateful when restaurants offer gluten-free options at all – I‘m celiac and rely heavily on places like this. Unfortunately, the dish I had (fried noodles with shrimps) was a bit disappointing. Very salty but lacking taste otherwise. I think a few more authentic spices and garnish as well as investing in some high-quality gluten-free soy sauce could really improve...
