Originally, this area was the riverbed of the āTorrente de la Rieraā, which was diverted after a devastating flood at the beginning of the 15th century. Stopped by for a quick coffee with a friend before our nearby meeting. Although the place wasnāt busy, the drinks took quite a while to prepare. We decided to go inside and change the order to take away, but by then they were just being made.
As we were short on time, I asked for two ice cubes on the side to cool my coffee faster. To my surprise, the staff asked me to make an additional card payment of ā¬0.50 for the ice cubes. I was curious and asked why the charge was applied. The staff member seemed unsure but explained that they offer iced coffee on the menu at a higher price, so he had to charge extra.
