We made a reservation to eat at La Olla as we heard it was a highly rated place. Although the food was certainly adequate, the overall experience was subpar. Firstly, we had a reservation for 9pm, and after standing in the entrance for quite a while we were rudely ushered outside without a proper explanation. We were then asked to have a drink outside and wait, which eventually took about 25-30 minutes (!) before we got seated inside. I’m not sure if it’s a mismanagement or overbooking issue, but why take reservations if you will leave your guests waiting for half an hour outside anyway. Our host was incredibly unfriendly and ignored us, which made the waiting quite unpleasant. We also noticed he was quite rude to the other staff, who were very friendly to us. The food was good, but the strange table service continued throughout our meal when we were handed drinks and no one cared to get rid of extra glasses, which made us laugh out loud seeing we had 8 glasses in total on a table for two people. To add to the situation, the toilet was absolutely filthy and had no hand soap, which seems super unsanitary. After getting the bill we also were surprised to see a surcharge of €2 per person for one single piece of bread (not even good) that one of us did not even touch at all but was still charged for. We did not ask for this bread. It’s a big shame that the overall hospitality was so poor because the food was fine, if pricy. For a restaurant presenting itself as a fine dining experience, it’s also quite strange that no menus seem to be available and ordering à la carte seems to be the...
Read moreA very welcoming experience for a different craving!! i ate here first on Sept 24. i was looking for "paella" and my friend heard me wrong and brought us to La Olla. "already here, might as well. dunno what's good here". there was NO paella on the menu. but then i saw Bacalao and Pulpo. that's it!! while waiting for our orders, i noticed the staff bringing out a dish that to us asians resembles steamed grouper. the waiter expertly de-boned them table side. then i got the typical symptom of order envy. That looks good!! next time. it was my birthday by the way and they got me a small cake with a candle. awww!! Fast forward two months later, after a loong 24hr trip from asia, planes trains and a taxi ride later, our first stop was dinner at La Olla. an older gray haired waiter attended to us. i wanted the fish and with my broken spanish and dismal sign language, we understood one another. from what i gathered (this may not be true) l, the dish i wanted is not in the menu. ah!! a secret menu!! he had different choices of the fish - sea bass and something else. i asked him what he recommended and said yes (not knowing). then he asked us what else the 4 of us wanted. again, pulpo, bacalao, and then there was a shell fish dish, and chistora. all were great... then the fish arrives. it's a some sort of flat fish. a sole. Boy was that good. i wanted to finish it down to the bones but it is not appropriate in this setting. the food was a great as all the staff attending to us. they were all very attentive and most of all, patient. Thank you La Olla!! see...
Read moreGreat Terrace, Friendly Attentive Service, Delicious Food, and all of that at the Right Price ........and that's what we received at this venue
From the menu we selected Tortilla de Bacalao, Alubias Verde and Chipirones a la Plancha and we finished with a shared Tarta de Manzana
We actually wanted to select the fish of the day....Cod.....but the portion for two was just too much for us for lunch, but looking at the diners around us, this dish of the day was in high demand....also because of the show of the fish being filleted right in front of the diners on the terrace....quite exceptional
All food serviced was delicious and well presented
Definitely a place where we will return and highly recommended to those after a great culinary experience on a terrace located in a pedestrian zone in the...
