Restaurant Niu — Restaurant in Pollença

As restaurant goers we all know we pay for the setting, ambience, food / drink and service. The setting at Restaurant Niu was truly superb and the views out to the bay were breathtaking. Because of that, and having had great experiences at five other restaurants in the resort, it’s highlighted how awful the other factors were that make up the evening and the bill. And what prompted me to write my only restaurant review. The service started as perfunctory and then segued into being bloody rude when they started clearing our tables whilst we were still sat down. No enquiry to the quality of the food by any of the waiting staff which was just as well since it was bland and the chicken and pork were indistinguishable in taste but allied in being tough. A thoroughly charmless, poor quality food experience by what appeared to be a cynical, unprofessional team only buoyed by a spectacular setting which would get 5 stars everyday. I visited this restaurant last night at 7pm and what a view they have over the cove. Great atmosphere combined with great service from all the staff. We order drinks (three glasses of red wine and one Hendricks Gin) with two mains (Grilled Tuna and Salmon Pasta) along with two desserts (Cheese Cake and Chocolate Ice cream), we both thought it was excellent. Had it not been for the fact that they forgot to give us the olives we ordered, I would have given them five stars. Total bill, 82 euros (£70.16) great value for money. We stayed in this area for five nights and have eaten in all the local restaurants, he's my top three:- third place this one, second, just right next to this one, Ca'l Patro and for a really special treat Rooftop EL Vicenc. Great views of the seaside, the food is good, with plenty of choice and prices, kids menus. I had lunch there today and all was good, however they brought me sauces (ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard) which are left for long time on the tables under the direct sunlight, but I didn't realise, had a sachet of mayonnaise, and got myself afflicted with a severe rash all over my body, had to go to the chemist to get some antihistamine, and thank god didn't get any worse after that.

So beware of the sauce sachets left on top the tables, you might get more that you...
