This restaurant certainly looks the part - table linen, table decoration, someone to seat you, someone to suggest special items, others to take your order and serve the food. However... we chose a table with a floral centre piece which was immediately transferred to another table until I stopped the waiter, who then placed it on a side table near us. I had studied the menu, which does mention that bread is €1.80 at the bottom. The waiter appeared with toast and began to distribute it without asking. The others in my party accepted it so I did too, although I had been prepared to decline it. Perhaps it was just as well I did as the meal was frugal to say the least. I asked what accompanied the meat courses and was told the chicken came with salad, the Iberian pork was not available but the sirloin came with chips. It turned out the hake also came with salad to my husband's disappointment. It was a good job my friend ordered the chicken with salad and extra chips, which i think were €8! The sirloin was €30, the hake €25 and the chicken €16. Well, we've never had such a disappointing salad accompaniment. I wish I'd thought to take a photograph! There were a few salad leaves, a few carrot shavings and a couple of segments of a biggish salad tomato. We had to ask for mayonnaise as there was no dressing. One of the packets had already been opened and I pointed it out to a waiter who took it away but did not replace it, so i had to ask another waiter for more. The chicken was thinly sliced and grilled. One of my pieces had a slightly burnt flavour and there was a mouthful of gristle in another. It was worse than the grilled chicken served as part of a menu del dia in Alozaina for €10! In fairness, the sirloin and hake were excellent and each had a whole cooked tomato. We decided not to risk dessert and asked to split the bill. The waiter apparently had no maths skills. The bill came to €118.20 with 2 small beers and 2 sparkling waters, but unfortunately our companions didn't ask for their receipt. When we came to pay, I asked for the receipt and found we had been charged €60. I was not happy as I had no intention of leaving any tip, but without knowing what the first charge was exactly, my husband did not want me to pursue the matter. All in all, a rip off and a...
Read moreSo I've been here before on my last vacation 2 years ago and it was better than my experience today. It started off fine with good wine and appetizers. But after that I had to wait 2 HOURS for the entrees to be served. The food was lukewarm at best when I got it and it seemed as though the staff and kitchen had forgotten about us.
I got here at about 3:45pm and was finally served at 5:38pm. I literally watched everyone around me be served, get there check and leave about twice over. There was no notice about the length of time I would have to wait, nor was there any type of sincere apology in the least for the wait. I addressed my concerns to the staff who just paused with their back turned to me and they simply walked away without any type of response. It was like they are allergic to apologies. I did not expect to spend the majority of my time in Rhonda waiting at an empty table. By the time I was served my wine and water were as hot as the ambient temperature outside.
For future reference of anyone planning to stop by, make this restaurant the only plan for the day. Otherwise it would be wiser to try somewhere else if you would like to see the sights or do any sort of shopping. Or only stop by for appetizers or drinks.
As I'm writing this review I'm still hungry and plan to go elsewhere. I feel ashamed I brought a friend to experience the service and food of this restaurant.
Also upon receiving the check there was no compensation for our loss of time. I understand that the culture of Spain is a bit more relaxed but from my experience it seemed like they forgot about my order especially when it came to the promptness, time, and quality of food/service that they offered.
And the table was wobbly and I used my own change to...
