Restaurante Rincón Rondeño — Restaurant in Ronda

I know there are great reviews here but I’m guessing it is from locals so the experience may be different. We like to frequent off the beaten path places that are more local but I surely was treated like a tourist. I ordered the Walnut and cheese salad and sangria. The salad came with a very shriveled up piece of cheese (like it withered away in the corner of the refrig for a month, not a single walnut and a ton of raisins (no mention of raisins in the salad on the menu). The sangria had canned fruit cocktail fruit and tasted like it was made with wine and the syrup from the can. One of the MOST disappointing dinners I’ve ever had in all of Europe AND I TRAVEL EXTENSIVELY . Why didn’t they just come tell me they were out of walnuts. They also seemed to be arguing with every table. One they demanded to pay cash not card. It is such a beautiful town and there are so many better places to eat if you are a tourist so do yourself a favor...

Do not come here, you will get scammed as a foreigner.

I had the dish of the day which was a Paella but it tasted so bland as if i cooked it myself and i am possibly one of the worst chefs out there.

However, the icing on the cake was that we got charged 7€ for the large beers that were listed as 1 liter "jarras" even though we actually had the smaller beers with 0,5 liters for 4€.

In the end, the waiter and the waitress who seemed nice and hospitable at first backstabbed us by not giving in and instead even tried to justify their scam.

The waiter tried to make amends by giving us a handshake which we gladly refused considering that we paid more of our hard earned money than actually shown...

I don't know what's going on with the reviews in Ronda. The number of places that have superlative reviews that turn out to be pretty ordinary suggests something is off. Anyway, lunch here today was...okay. A few tables out in the alley, two ladies quite friendly doing the serving. There is an inside area, very noisy next to the busy road. We had a glass of wine, a cana of beer. The chicken cooked in breadcrumbs was pretty good. Goat's cheese salad was okay. Two puddings ditto. Memorable? No. Price...
