Nestled in the heart of Salamanca, just a stone's throw away from the bustling Plaza Mayor, lies Bambú - a culinary gem that offers an authentic Spanish dining experience far removed from the typical tourist trail. This charming establishment prides itself on its traditional yet innovative approach to Spanish cuisine, delivering dishes that are both genuine and daring.
Upon entering Bambú, one is immediately enveloped by the warm and inviting atmosphere, a prelude to the gastronomic delights that await. The restaurant's commitment to quality is evident in every dish, particularly their croquetas and vieiras (scallops), which are simply celestial. Each bite of the croquetas transports you to a world of creamy, savory bliss, while the vieiras, with their delicate texture and rich flavor, are a testament to the restaurant's culinary prowess.
The picanha, a succulent cut of beef, is grilled to perfection, its robust flavors enhanced by the smoky notes from the coal-fired grill. It's a dish that resonates with the essence of Spanish cooking - bold, straightforward, and utterly delectable.
But the pièce de résistance is undoubtedly the dessert. The flan, with its silky-smooth consistency and caramelized top, paired with the exquisite V dulce de invierno 2020 wine, creates a symphony of flavors that lingers on the palate long after the last spoonful.
Bambú is not just a restaurant; it's a celebration of Spanish gastronomy, a place where every meal is an event, and every dish tells a story. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking to indulge in the true essence of Spanish...
Read moreVisited this restaurant a few weeks ago, was quite excited as it states on the door it’s aiming to be a Michelin star restaurant. Was shown a table for lunch quickly and a waiter, who spoke English helped us. The menu is only in Spanish so we had to look on our phones for a translation. As we haven’t eaten Tapas before a waiter helped us choose a light lunch and varied food. We thought we had chosen 4 dishes and he went away. The first 2 dishes arrived separately, good size portions and the 3rd one didn’t arrive???. A different waitress delivered a third dish and we then asked the original waiter about the 4th dish. He informed us we had had everything we had ordered , so we thought perhaps in all the confusion we only ordered 3 dishes? We paid the bill, tipped the restaurant and waiter and then realised later we had been charged for a 4th dish as we had originally thought we should have had. We should have checked the bill before leaving , but still decided to contact the restaurant. With such an acclaim to being such a great restaurant, missing a course for a guest is not on and at least we thought we would receive an apology from the management. No response, we then re contacted them and a waiter wrote to us apologising? Did the chef miss it or was if taken to the wrong table?. He advised we would have the money for this dish returned, not heard anything else??. Overall, restaurant ambience nice, food ok, customer service poor. Make sure you check you have received all the...
Read moreWe are on an escorted tour with Collette Tours and our tour manager Philip suggested this place. We arrived for dinner but the place was full with reservation, so I made reservations for the next night.
We were seated right next to the kitchen. It was fun watching the chefs prepare the dishes. We felt like we were watching Top Chef. Great atmosphere.
We had a variety of tapas, all excellent. We had the Pork skewer marinade Moorish style, the smoked Iberian top shoulder pastrami bun, grilled pork belly roll, the lamb "pincho" oaxaca, and white wine.
The most interesting item was the lamb "pincho". We were told to eat it from the bottom. The top had a chocolate syrup. It was a combination of savory and sweet. We really liked it!
I really wanted to try the braised scallop, but was pretty full by then. In fact, we gave some of the pork skewer to our friends who were at the next table.
For tapas, it's on the pricey side, but the taste, quality, culinary experience and presentation outweighed the prices.
The staff was friendly and helpful when we were looking through the menu.
If we ever get back to Salamanca, I would definitely...
