Hotel Catalonia Plaza Mayor Salamanca — Hotel in Salamanca

The hotel's location is excellent, within easy walking distance of everything in Salamanca's historic centre. At the same time it is very quiet with good soundproofing. We booked a superior room which was spacious with a comfortable sofa as well as a very wide and comfortable bed. The pillows were super comfortable too. There was an electric kettle as well as a coffee machine, and a small fridge., bathrobes and slippers and even a little box of 2 Lindt chocolates. The bathroom had a large walk in shower with dual rain head and hand held shower heads. Everything was very clean and we heard no noise from housekeeping staff servicing nearby rooms in the mornings. We very much appreciated being able to check in to our room immediately when we arrived at 12.30 pm, having expected to need to drop off our luggage and return to check in later. Check out time was not until 12.00 pm which avoided the need to rush and we were able to leave our luggage stored for another few hours. The price/quality ratio offered by this hotel is extremely good.||There were very few negative points and only minor ones. The water pressure in the shower could have been more powerful and the washbasin counter had a strange angled surface at one side which made access to the wc slightly awkward. The volume limiter on the TV remote control was set so low that I could not hear it at all even when standing right next to the TV. I appreciate the need to avoid excessive noise for neighbouring rooms but I think the volume could be raised slightly without inconveniencing...

Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable, marked by the exceptional helpfulness and professionalism of the staff throughout our visit. The hotel provides a range of good facilities and maintains a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes guests feel at ease. While the rooms were comfortable and well-maintained, a few minor renovations would further elevate the overall experience, ensuring an even greater level of comfort and satisfaction.

Last month, my wife and I spent five nights at this hotel. We enjoyed the service and the great location, just within a few steps from Plaza Mayor, close to a supermarket, and within walking distance from many restaurants and attractions.||Our room (312) was very clean and of good size, but very oddly laid out, apparently the space taken was never intended to be a room at all. The entrance was very narrow, the closet was at an unusual location, and the path to the bed was somewhat twisted. Worst was the bathroom with the toilet placed at a cramped corner. ||However, the room was very quiet, and nicely cleaned every day. The staff was helpful and attentive. The breakfast buffet was good in general, but not great. The hotel lacked atmosphere or charm. The price we paid was somewhat high, perhaps a little too much for the quality, ambiance, and services...
