La Platea — Restaurant in Salamanca

I can’t understand the bad reviews. The place was full and we were well received. The waiter was really friendly and although the food wasn’t the best, for 15 euros per person, I find it difficult to find a better quantity/quality relation, a very complete meal with “primeros” and “segundos” tradicional dishes. I had a very disappointing experience at La Platea Restaurante. Firstly, the place was visibly dirty. The service was equally poor, the waiter was unfriendly and showed no effort to be welcoming. To make things worse, he didn’t speak English and made no attempt to communicate or find someone who could help. It felt like customer service simply wasn’t a priority. I have been living in Spain for 2 years and I am accustomed to a general poor service in restaurants but here the service was insulting!! The waiter did not even respond to me when I asked him if we can sit at the free table. Then no one came for 20 min. I spoke to the other waiter if we could get served and whom I told I asked his partner and he didn’t reply to me at all and he said “i am busy”. What a joke....
