Unfortunately not a great experience- we went having read so many good reviews and recommendations. Firstly the food- we ordered a chicken paella and a lobster paella. The chicken paella was quite tasty, though the chicken was quite dry and overcooked. The rice and sauce helped to balance that out a bit. The lobster paella, however, was a disaster; most of the meat could not be retrieved out of the lobster as it was so overcooked it was almost a brownish colour. Everything was quite literally a brown mush and despite the restaurant offering some tools to aid, they did nothing given how ruined the meat was at that point. The lobster was also served with the intestinal track still still present- whilst we know this can be eaten, the majority of people find it unsanitary and prefer it removed, which wasn't offered as an option to us. When we'd found it smushed into the mushy lobster meat, it was incredibly off-putting at which point the rest of the meat wasn't touched. Service- fairly prompt, but not engaging at all. We'd been to a few restaurants at this point during our stay and waiters conversed, engaged and checked in. At La Barca, we got very little beyond a waiter coming to take the order, bring the food and asking whether we wanted to pay cash or card (we hadn't asked for the bill at this point). Bottom line - over €60 for 1 okay and 1 disastrous paella, and 2 drinks (one a pint of draft and a fanta). We definitely won't be returning in the future and would strongly advise that anyone ordering their seafood paellas to consider a...
Read moreThe staff at this restaurant are the most unfriendly Moroccan people I've ever met. When two ladies from our party (including a baby of 2 years old) went to the bar to ask for drinks, the waiter poured the drinks away from the females so they could not see what he was putting in their glasses. Obviously the ladies refused to take accept them and the Moroccan waiters got aggressive towards them and the whole party, hence we vacated the restaurant but not without a great deal of upset. Just BEWARE..... if you are not happy with the service or food you receive, you will not get the same respect or treatment as a valued paying customer that you would get...
Read moreThis establishment has to be the most vile and disgusting that I have ever been to. Being on the road for 10 days traveling throughout the wonderful Spain this place is an embarrassment to the country . I had the steak and vegetables which was nothing more than a mediocre tasteless piece of meat with canned vegetables. My partner had the chicken paella which looked and tasted that it came out of a microwave. Not once did the waiter ask how our food was, 58 euro later we left . Today we are both sick and I blame this place . Places come and places go however when this place closes it will be for the greater good of Salou. This place is Not...
