Fantastic 5 star Boutique Resort
First visit to the birdcage resort but not my last; I will be back. 24-29 Jan 2022
The service I received from the minute I arrived, to the minute I left was absolutely outstanding, the staff were so friendly and committed to making sure you have everything you needed to enjoy your holiday. If you want I really truly up market bespoke exclusive resort, this is for you!
Andree, the general manager was amazing and very attentive when checking in, very professional and efficient, and always had a smile.
Darren, English, really gave a friendly and warm welcome, with lots of advice and guidance to the resort & surrounding areas, which is really appreciated.
Pavel, never stood still amazingly busy looked after everything and anything, he is a real asset to the team, well done and thank you for making me feel so welcome.
Tom, again very attentive always with a smile and always keen to ensure you’re happy.
All in all, nothing was too much trouble for any of the team, Including the housekeeping team that kept the resort and your room immaculate.
The rooms were delightful at all the amenities you would expect from a five star hotel, slippers, dressing gowns, toiletries, top of the range coffee machine, fully stocked fridge, even an umbrella just in case. Not forgetting the bottle of Cava and fresh fruit complimentary as a welcome gift! Overall outstanding.
The pool was very Refreshing and the Jacuzzi the perfect temperature, emptied & cleaned every day, the surrounding gardens and beach area were truly beautiful as well as offering real shade as and when required.
The seating area by reception is also a great social area, full of books DVDs and magazines with wonderful stocked bar where you can meet and socialise with other guests.
With the resort only being 20 minutes from the airport and five minute walk to the Yambo centre it is perfectly placed for the town, shops, restaurants and bars. All only a just stroll away!

Out of the various hotels there was one that stood by far head and shoulders above the others: Birdcage Resort became the main reason for me to return to Gran Canaria every year ever since.||The small-scale resort is actually a beautiful garden, in which the bungalows are located. They are cozily decorated, spotlessly clean and well maintained. The bed mattresses are clearly of very high quality. There is a swimming pool, a jacuzzi and enough sunbeds for every guest to enjoy the sun. There is a bar/restaurant to satisfy the craving for lunch, a snack or a drink. Starting the day at the linen-covered breakfast table usually turns into a festive event and ensures that you get in a good mood for the rest of the day.||But no matter how gorgeous the place may be, at the end of the day it’s the people who make your day. Nothing wrong here at Birdcage Resort! The place knows how to attract certain type of clientele: older, younger, fat, skinny, dark, white, big, small … you name it, they’re all there with one thing in common: always very decent and respectful towards one another. This may be attributed to the sublime staff who are practicing hospitality out of conviction. Not only are they doing their job very well - they just ARE hospitality! And this goes for everyone: the management who takes care of the preliminary reservation process and the set up of what the resort is supposed to radiate, as well as the local staff who understand the meaning of hospitality so well.||Let’s be honest: we all wish to be near to where the action is, amidst the hectic craziness of the numerous Yumbo’s shops, restaurants, cabaret shows and cruising clubs. Read moreAs I sit in the back of a black Mercedes on my way to the airport, arranged of course by The Birdcage Resort at a very reasonable price, I can’t help but immediately write my review for a wonderful 4 nights stay.
This is my 6th visit to Gran Canaria (over a period of almost 20 years) and Ive never stayed at the same hotel, and to be honest can’t even remember the other ones I stayed at. But now I know that the next time I visit I will not consider staying anywhere else.
The bungalows are great, tastefully decorated, clean, well kept and all have a private terrace or little garden. The grounds and pool area are beautifully maintained and you can tell that this is a property that the owners take pride in.
Staff go out of their way to make you feel at home, always ready to help, super friendly and approachable which rubs off on all staying there, leading to fun conversations and interactions with other guests.
I could go on to rave about the breakfast and some great lunch options, the Friday night get together, the cleaner who greeted me every day with the warmest smile, the great location in the heart of the action but tucked away just enough to guarantee quiet nights, great minibar options, good pricing and a smooth check in and check out process. But I won’t;)
As a co-owner of a travel company with hundreds of 5 star reviews I have learnt that true luxury comes not from the thread count of your bed-linen or marbled bathrooms but through authentic, thoughtful and meaningful interactions in addition to the aforementioned amenities and attention to detail.
