I visited this place with a tourist group for lunch. Based on the look and feel of the venue, I was expecting something local and truly delightful. Sadly, it didn’t quite live up to expectations. While the fish here is left me feel good, my experience with the pork was questionable at best.
The pork I was served was pink in the middle, which immediately raised concerns. Then I found a piece that was even more red. When I asked the waiter if this was normal, he didn’t offer an explanation. Instead, he simply took the plate back to the kitchen, cooked the remaining pieces, and returned them to me. There was no apology, no explanation, and certainly no offer of compensation. I’m not the sort to make a scene, but I expected at least an acknowledgment of the mistake. Instead, I was charged full price. Other members of tourist group who ordered the same dish, also had the same situation.
Please be cautious.
P.S. I couldn’t even wash my hands before the meal, as there was no water available. There wasn’t even a sign to inform diners of this, which was inconvenient. Upd: there's no sign and not only me who did not know how to use and where to check of how to...
Read moreI finally visited the quaint and pretty heritage town of La Laguna. A lot of the shops close from 1:30 - 5pm for siesta, which as a tourist wanting to shop, I find a bit annoying. I could get up earlier to travel on 3 buses for nearly 2 hours from Costa Adeje but that is never going to happen.
I decided to have lunch in a traditional Spanish bodega, which there are many to choose from so I merely stopped at the first one I passed.
I noticed it was very popular, however, as the time was an hour before siesta began (12:30) I was fortunate to be given a table.
I ordered the octopus salad, Canarian potatoes and a very nice glass of wine.
The servings were huge, though I managed to eat all of the salad, which had many pieces of fresh and perfectly cooked and seasoned octopus.
My only negative comment is that I didn't realise I would be charged for the bread (plastic texture) and three dips. They seem to be served to every table. I had only barely nibbled the bread with one of the dips.
However, that would not put me off eating here. The interior is rustic and charming and there are a few tables...
Read moreLove the place from the first moment. Great typical canarian food. Everything I tried over there so far was delicious. I would definitely recommend grilled cheese with mojo verde, wrinkled potatoes, almogrote cured cheese paste, fried baby squid, grilled cuttlefish or octopus, chickpea stew, ribs and carne fiesta. The food is simple but very tasty and at reasonable price. Cooked to perfection....For me it worked well combined with refreshing cold canarian beer Dorada. Friendly and attending wait staff. In the evening it gets quite busy giving vibrant and bubbly ambience. Its a must place to eat while visiting La Laguna..... I really liked the overall rustic feel, warm atmosphere, traditional cousine, and the welcoming personnel. Definitely a place I'll...
