I booked a table for two at 18:00 on Thursday through the reservation system provided by covermanager.com which was available on the restaurant’s website. I also received a confirmation email from the restaurant that my reservation was successful. When we got to the restaurant just past 18:00, it was closed. I phoned the restaurant and they told me it will be open only from 19:00. Clearly, the reservation system on their website does not match with their actual opening time. I can see their actual opening hours on Google Map but if the reservation system on their actual website allows you to book a table, it is very confusing which one is telling the truth, and if it is really available or not. (Especially if you do receive a confirmation email from the restaurant after booking) I strongly recommend that they should adjust the reservation system so that it will not allow anyone to book a table outside of their opening hours. The staff who answered my phone call apologised at the end of the conversation and suggested us to come back at 19:00 but unfortunately we had a movie to go watch that day. The restaurant and the dishes look amazing in photos so I will try to come back while they are open. — Update — The other day I booked a table at 19:00 (please keep in minds that the Google and the reservation system on their website still allow you to book a table during the closed hours) and had a nice meal at this place. I am a huge fan of the availability of half portion and they had it for some dishes which was helpful. All were tasty except for the beef dishes and the desserts were fantastic. We enjoyed every kind of desserts they had. Every staff speaks English which was a great help for us and are really friendly and attentive. Overall the dining experience was nice and cosy, and we enjoyed the time we had at this restaurant. Thank you. :)

My husband and I shared a meal here last night & it was just fantastic! We have dined at four Michelin starred restaurants while in San Sebastián and Arde truly was right up there as a more than exceptional experience! Donostia is so known for its Pintxos crawling that I think a lot of people don’t realize there’s actually incredible food coming out of those kitchens in the back! We started our meal off with the foie micuit & steak tartare, both were very much worthy of licking the plate, and then we shared (thank goodness because it was massive!) the ribeye & a greens salad. We savored this part for as long as we could, each bite was so delicious & the olive oil used on our salad nearly brought me to tears! We had cocktails along the way, a bottle of wine, dessert & dessert cocktails — again, all summoning up that quiet “mmmm” moment afforded by a really tasty sip or nibble! It really is such a treat to dine in such beautiful places where the cooks do the foods they are serving exquisite justice!

I struggled on this one, because the food is seriously good… but my experience dragged it down. The rest though felt really off. Service was brutally slow, portion to cost was off, and things we wanted were sold out - but they let us know once it was too late to change other orders … which was wild given how long the dishes took to come out. I get Spain service can be slow, but the timings between dishes left us hungry, bread came at weird times, and the gap to the final dish was huge. We gave up for ordering more or desert and just went elsewhere for it. I would probably go again as the food was good (imagine how good the food has to be to make up for this) - but I felt the whole experience put me off.
