I was part of a large group which required that we were served a set menu… unfortunately nothing like the quality of the photos that I saw posted for those who got to order a la carte! The more simple food items appear to have been selected by them for our large group, which was a shame. There also was not enough food to share - especially in light of the €80 pp fee. For example, one of the side dishes was roasted carrots - and they didn’t provide us enough carrots for us each to have a whole one. The fish was easily the best dish - however, they served one fish per four people - and I think it would have been better if they had done one fish per two people. The flatbread and the fried chicken were not particularly well flavoured or flavourful.

That said - they were very kind to shift our booking from a Friday to a Saturday when there was a mix up by the organisers who had accidentally double booked us on the Friday night . They shifted us to a 5:30pm time slot on the Saturday - which they said was their only availability - however, when we were there no one else was there and when we left only two other tables had started. We would have certainly preferred a later booking and I did wonder if they booked us earlier just so they’d have the space hypothetically available...

Monkey in Sant Antoni has a beautiful, trendy terrace with a relaxed vibe and a fantastic view of the sunset. We sat by the sea, where it got quite chilly after sunset in May. There are a few heaters on the terrace, but none near the sea side, so it felt especially cold in that area.

The food was mixed. The shakshuka (€25) was a simple mix of tomato and bell pepper with some bread, which felt underwhelming. The chicken was tasty and well-prepared. The “tuna tacos” turned out to be a single small taco about 9 cm in diameter, not what you expect when the menu says tacos.

The service was the biggest downside. Our French waiter mainly focused on the other French-speaking tables around us and paid little attention to us or the other non-French-speaking guests. As a result, we had to wait quite a while for drinks and for plates to be cleared. To top it off, we were handed the bill without asking, immediately after finishing our meal.

Conclusion: Monkey is definitely worth visiting for its atmosphere and location, but falls short when it comes to service and value for money. With more attentive and guest-focused staff, it could...

I read the reviews and thought this restaurant would be amazing. Upon review, many of them are from last year. There’s a chance we ordered wrong but the food was meh. Grilled calamari was rubbery, the green bean salad was either made with severely over cooked green beans or they came out of a can. We ordered the tuna poke and it would have been nice if the (I am thinking brand new) waiter had told us we might like to have two of them as they are tough to share and small. The grilled feta was great but it would be better if the bed of julienned zucchini had flavour (dry). Our server brought us sparkling water and we ordered our food and asked for a drink menu… he never returned to take the drink order and all four of our appetizers arrived at the same time. (Two of us dining) There was a DJ playing who was quite good but the evening was over shadowed quite literally by an apartment over head that had about 12 people in it being loud and playing their own music and being incredibly loud. I know that’s no fault of the restaurant but it was the cherry in the cake. ...

Overpriced and underwhelming, disappointing sunset experience We came to Monkey hoping to enjoy a relaxing sunset drink on the terrace. While we had made a reservation and were seated at a front-row table, the overall vibe was lacking, it didn’t feel warm or welcoming. A jug of sangria cost €40, which felt quite steep. On top of that, we were told we had to order food, even though we had already eaten. We ended up getting fries and tuna "tacos." Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. The fries were soggy and the portion was tiny. The “tacos” were basically four Dorito-like chips with a small spoon of tuna on each, not what you'd expect for the price. The only highlight was the sunset, which, to be fair, was beautiful. But honestly, we could’ve enjoyed the same view just a few meters away with a can of sangria from the supermarket and saved ourselves nearly €80. If you're looking for a special sunset experience, think twice. For us, Monkey didn’t live up to the hype.
