My wife is local, and recently one can notice that local restaurants are no longer what they used to be and Casa Edu is the perfect example of an owner that is no longer in touch with the real economy the locals earn.
We were at Las Amercias yesterday - the most trustic place in Tenerife - shockingly enough Casa Edu was more expensive than Las Americas.
We waited 30 minutes hoping the wait was worth it, but not at all.
At Casa Edu our lunch for me and my wife costed 70€ with prices that were totally out of touch.
We were charged 3 Euros for the the mojo sauce - that was never the case before in a local restaurant of this style.
For 2 breads 1,90 Eur, quality of the bread was not worth the money.
We were charged 2 Euros for a take away bag, which would not have been necessary if the owner would have adviced properly on the quantity ordered.
A small salad costed 6€, and each dessert 4€ - not worth it either.
Last but not least 30€ for a parrillada de carne, all was bad quality pork meat and only a couple of pieces of chicken.
All in all, not blaming the owner, blaming the entire spectrum of local restaurants that are simply no longer what...
Read moreI'd give 4.5 stars if possible, only because we found at the end that the ropa vieja, bread and mojo sauces they brought us straight away weflre all charged for, while we thought they were on the house (total for those items was 10 euro). I thought that as a bit of a sneaky way to round up revenues to be honest. Nevertheless, bread was just made, the mojos a bomb - the ropa vieja not our cup of tea. Everything else was supreme: service absolutely amazing, with everyone being polite, properly cleaning tables, smiling and even playing peekaboo with our little baby. Food-wise, it's clear meat is their strength, you can tell just by the smoky smell in the air. I went for grilled chicken - boy if it was good! I'm Italian, I think I've been exposed on average to decent food, but I've never had a grilled chicken this good. Moist, tender, yet extremely savoury and tasty. Portions are big!! Check this venure out, you won't regret it. Parking may be a bit of a nuisance though,...
Read moreWOW! One of the best meals we've had in Tenerife. This is authentic, delicious, Canarian food at a fantastic price. When I see this many great reviews, I'm sometimes concerned its a tourist trap - but NOPE, this place has earned it, they're just THAT good. Service was excellent, efficient, and friendly but not pestering you. There's tents set up outside to allow dining during COVID, they also do takeout. The Trufa de Morcilla were unbelievable, you HAVE to try them. The padron peppers were excellently cooked as well. But if you come here, the real star of the show is the steak. Definitely try the chuleton de novillo maduro, which is ribeye that you cook on a hot stone. It's unbelievable. Highly recommend. And the prices are just so cheap. No idea how they do it but I hope they keep up the great work! Definitely worth a visit (or three). Be forewarned there may be a wait during peak meal times on weekends but it's well...
