Bendala - Arroces y Brasas — Restaurant in Seville

This place is almost 5 stars...we had to stop here. Came early so no waiting. Easy seating. The staff deserves 5 stars because they are soooo freakin' awesome. Just friendly, patient, as a tourist we very much appreciated them. And honest...we were gonna order too much and she told us that. Told us it was too much to eat..who does that? So we listened to her and she was right. Ordered Tapas, fried eggplant and fried squid. Both very good, large serving size for a Tapas plate. Squid was outstanding.. Then the " Parrillada Iberica", a platter of grilled Iberico pork, chorizo and potatoes. Very good. Potatoes may have been the favorite. Perfectly fried and salted. The pork and chorizo were great. Glad we listened to the waitress..!! We squeezed in dessert..a chocolate souffle, molten chocolate interior, vanilla ice cream....ummmmm....save some room...!. I knocked a star off due to the 3.00 charge for bread and crackers. We did eat the olives. We left the 2 bags of crackers. We knew we paid 1.50 euro each for the Pan Picos. But if we paid then they should leave the crackers. Instead they took them. If we paid then leave them. How many times will they resell the crackers...?? Other than this small complaint we really...

We’d booked in advance and arrived on time . Seated . Not the most welcoming. We ordered our food and the waiter bought drinks and olives and bread over . ( all charged on bill FYI)… we’d ordered starters and mains and absolutely everything came out at different times. My wife had finished hers twenty minutes before two more meals were bought out . Then the last meal ten minutes later . Just not good enough. We moaned . Waiter understood and took it to the manager (owner?) he dug his heals in . We were offered free bread 😂. Then a shot . Then a dessert. No , no and no . Back n forth it went , then the manager puts the bill on table minus wife’s main meal. Fair enough to me . We all make mistakes. It’s how it’s dealt with that counts . Could n should have been good . My steak was excellent , as was wifeys meal !. My pals steak was as bang average n his wife’s cod dish nearly cold . Sorry but in a city with hundreds of great restaurants I want to spend my money on friendly people with good service...

We visited Bendala on a Thursday afternoon for lunch really looking forward to some paella and had one of our best meals in our one-week trip so far to Andalusia.

All paellas here are for a minimum of two people, which is typical. We ordered the shrimp & scallop paella for two.

Unfortunately when the food arrived, we got served the vegetable paella which was a mix up on their part, but all was good in the end. We clarified our order and with a little extra wait (about an extra 20 mins - we were not in a rush), we had one of our best meals during our trip.

Serving size is generous and the ratio of the rice and the protein is perfect. I don't think my photo does it justice.

Service was excellent. Knowing there was a mix up, the team tried their best to keep us happy, serving us some cheese & sherry on the house during the wait.

Thank you to everyone who made our meal very memorable! We would be very happy to go back again,...
