Freiduría Puerta de la Carne — Restaurant in Seville

We went here for lunch after hearing good reviews from a couple of people, but we were let down by the staff over there. There was no clear communication from the waiters, and they were quite rude as well.

We first asked if there is any seat inside, but the lady staff said there isnt, and we'll have to sit outside and someone will come to cater us. So we sat in a table for 2 and no one attended us for about 10 minutes until we called someone. They did not speak English, so we used Google translate and we ordered Sangria jar and specifically wrote 500ml in our translation. And yet they brought a big jar, which must be about 1-1.25L.

They did not take any food orders, and they were not even looking at us. We again had to call them over to say that we want to order, and then the guy said they only do drinks here, and the food is next door and is a takeaway with self service! They could've mentioned it straightaway as we must've sat there for atleast 30mins waiting!

Then we had to move to another table, went into the takeaway and got the food in about a couple of minutes. The food was good and was sufficient for the both of us.

They sell fried fish and seafood by weight. The set up is a bit like an English Fish and Chips place. You queue up to choose what you like or just let the server make up the mix for you. Ours contained battered or breaded cuttlefish, hake and prawns, among other things. There's lots of choice. The tables outside the freiduria belong to the shop, so you can sit there to eat your freshly cooked, delicious food straight from the wrapper. The waiters from the Tres de Oro bar next door will serve you a drink at the table too. Cost of food was about 7 or 8 euro per 250g. Worth every penny! Little tip: get there early...

The fried boquerones and chicken I ate were really flavorful and cooked thoroughly leaving no pink meat inside. I was 99.9% satisfied with the taste. Fresh tomatoes tasted really good but unfortunately the cashier who prepared this tomato did not wash her hand as she moved from receiving my payment to cutting the tomatoes. This is very unacceptable especially we are still in Covid times. She was not grumpy though as I had some questions in the beginning and helpful as she assisted me with my order.
