Callao Bodega Triana — Restaurant in Seville

Walked by this restaurant several times while exploring Triana and it always seemed busy in the evenings, so we decided to have our last dinner here before departing Andalusia the following morning.

Plenty of seating within the restaurant as well as street side. They have an English menu and coupled with service staff who spoke good English, the ordering process was both smooth and painless.

Food and drinks arrived pretty quickly considering how busy the restaurant was and how few wait staff they had. The 'fried cuttlefish from Huelva with jalapeño mayonnaise' was lightly fried and remained soft and chewy to the bite. A small dash of the mayo with jalapeño sauce really adds an additional layer of flavor.

As usual, we just had to order the berenjenas! The eggplant was lightly battered like a delicate tempura and wasn't overcooked till it was soft. We enjoyed it served with honey so much that we resolved to replicate this combo the next time we were invited to a potluck social dinner back home! It goes without saying this was a fitting last meal...

Siamo andati in questo. Locale attirati dalle recensioni positive perché volevo mangiare una Paella. Purtroppo io sono allergica al pomodoro e di conseguenza ho chiesto appena seduta se era possibile fare una paella senza pomodoro. In inglese in spagnolo e pure con la traduzione scritta. Mi è stato detto che l'unica senza era quella vegetariana. Ho richiesto se erano sicuri perché mi sembrava strano che la vegetariana proprio fosse bianca. Mi hanno detto di sì. È arrivato il piatto al mio ragazzo e poco dopo anche la mia paella. Lho assaggiata e ho sentito in bocca il gusto del pomodoro, era piena di pomodoro e di pezzi di pomodori secchi. Al che abbiamo subito richiamato il cameriere dicendo e lui sorridendo ha detto "ops è stato un errore del cameriere" e lha portata via. Nel frattempo ho dovuto subito prendere un antistaminico. Il mio ragazzo ha cenato da solo e dopo ben 15 minuti in cui credevo fossero andati a rifarla bianca, sono tornati dicendomi che non potevano garantirmi che non ci fosse il pomodoro perché il fondo della pentola era pieno di pomodoro. Ma dirlo subito? In soldoni ci siamo alzati e io non ho cenato, non mi hanno fortunatamente fatto pagare la paella, ma il coperto si. Si sono scusati solo alla fine forse non hanno capito la gravità della situazione, con un'allergia è necessario essere attenti e non commettere errori come questo, pena la vita delle persone. Io me ne sono accorta subito ma se uno non se ne accorge? Imbarazzo totale. Mai visto una leggerezza del genere. Sconsiglio l'esperienza...

Absolutely the best meal we have had. We ordered Paella Original and two Iberian meat dishes (tapas): Grilled Iberian meat with potatoes and mojo picon sauce & Iberian tenderloin with whiskey sauce - this was so good we could not believe it.
