Tldr: Would not advise coming here. Waiter doesn’t deliver the food you order and when you clarify you’ve received the right food they gaslight you. Especially dangerous if you have any food allergies since we’d ordered vegetarian dishes and instead received blood sausage.
Had lunch here and ordered two dishes. 1) Spanish omelette with whiskey sauce 2) spinach and chickpeas
Dish 1 arrived with no problem and was pretty good. The problem came with the second dish we ordered which was off the stew menu (highlighted item in picture 2). This was supposed to be spinach and chickpeas, however what we received did not look like a stew at all (picture 1). We tasted a bite and did not think it tasted right at all, so called the waiter over to check. There were raisins, pine nuts, eggs, and other items but we could not find any spinach or chickpea. We do not speak fluent Spanish, just broken Spanish with English and so we pointed to the menu to ask if this was it. The waiter said yes it is correct. We asked if he was sure and he insisted it was correct and said it is a very typical Seville dish.
I was still extremely confused after the meal and posted in a Seville online forum asking if anyone knew what the dish was. Turns out it is “Revuelto de Morcilla” which people explained is like scrambled egg with BLOOD SAUSAGE. Thankfully we are not vegetarian, so we did not accidentally eat meat, but giving people the entirely wrong dish, especially when it is blood sausage, is...
Read moreI will write this in English because it is directed at tourists visiting the city. Besides, I don’t expect the management will care one way or the other.
We lived in Triana for a year albeit 20 yrs ago and went to Casa Cuesta fairly often. But since, especially if by ourselves like today, you will encounter the most miserable set of serving staff it is possible to imagine.
Son gruñones. They are grumpy.
That changed as soon as our Spanish friends arrived but we were initially told we couldn’t sit just to have a drink. Others, all Spanish customers, seemed not to have that same condition applied to them.
We aren’t alone. Our friends only met us there because we had a special reason - to toast a dearly departed friend who did like it - but they would not go to this bar by choice.
And if you are after good food, there are MUCH BETTER places close by. Try El Mercado de Triana o Gascona, as just one example.
It’s a beautiful setting - but just look through the window - but falls down on staff, atmosphere and quality of offering.
Not much else to say really.
Read moreHaving eaten here on several occasions and always been satisfied in every respect, we had a terrible experience today. Today I feel we were targeted and fleeced. After selecting our menu items and communicating as best we could, but clearly, we received dishes different to those described on the menu. Our Spanish being very limited but with the help of our waiter we ordered our main courses a fresh dourada and 2 orders of calamari. We received exactly that, the fish, as ordered but not fully cooked and the squid presented differently than described. Instead of 2 orders at around 13€ each we were charged almost €80 just for the 2 squid. An almost €200 lunch that should have been under €100. I challenged the waiter as having misled us, he was very bashful and apologetic. Of course we paid our full bill but as I told the waiter, we will now never return there, he had deliberately fleeced us and he didn't seem to deny it. Be wary, I stress that we don't speak Spanish very well but we do visit Seville very often as we live in Portugal. There was no misunderstanding on ordering, just an opportunity to extort...
