We came to Mercado de Triana early and just strolled around the market. We got near Cerveceria Loli and the waiter approached us - he told us that we must try the paella. We were skeptical at first vut the guy seemed very nice so we decided to give it a chance especially after some people at a different table recommended it. Guys, this was the best paella we have ever had. It’s a must and it is really a dish to remember. The rice was superb, the seafood was so nicely cooked - the calamari was melting in my mouth. We also had the mussels a la marinera - very fresh and full of taste. The sauce was great. If you are in Triana, this is the place to go to - do not fall fot other tourist traps, these guys are genuine. The service was top notch, we shared some laughs with the guys at the counter, the chef - a real community sense. A real gem in the Triana market!...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place based on the other reviews but perhaps caught them on a bad day as they were super busy. I inquired about a table and the waiter just shrugged his shoulders. Eventually I sat down at a table and was then told to move closer to the serving area. So I waited until a table became available in that area. I ordered the Paella but the waiter wouldn't let me order tapa size (maybe because I was dining alone? Not sure. So didn't order any other dishes). When the dish arrived it was sooo salty I couldn't taste the other ingredients/flavours and couldn't finish it. Upon payment he asked for a tip which is the first I've experienced in Spain and didn't seem justified considering the experience. I tipped anyway just to get out.
I would however recommend going to Espacio Eslava. Food and service on...
Read moreA food market seems to be a good place to grab lunch in Spain. This one in particular was well worth the wait for a table. We arrived at about 2pm and it was quite difficult to find a seat. We waited about 15 minutes before we grabbed one. Yes, you have to be quick. We ordered drinks, cold shrimp and small pieces of swordfish with a shrimp cre sauce. The shrimp, with head and shells, were sweet and cooked to perfection but a lot of work. The swordfish was served over fresh cut fries and was delicious. It was perfectly cooked and not too fishy. The slightly spicy sauce was poured over everything, and I would have licked the plate were i not in public. Would I go back?...
