We stopped here for a small tapas lunch, a group of 4. We ordered 4 tapas dishes, bread and drinks. Drinks and 2 of the tapas dishes came out in reasonable time, but 45 minutes later and no sign of the other 2 dishes or the bread. We constantly tried to attract staff attention, but they spent more time chatting by the door than looking after their customers. The restaurant wasnt particularly busy, waiting staff weren't rushed off their feet and our tapas orders were basic. So I cant offer any mitigation for the time it took or the lack of attention from staff.
In the end, we cancelled the 2 other tapas and bread order, we had to get on with our day. We got no apology and only managed to leave by standing by the area the waiters were stood and encouraging them to get us the bill and paying.
The food that did arrive (potatas bravas and anchovy on toast) was nice, and others around us with food appeared to be enjoying their meals. The location is on a bustling corner which we enjoyed people watching etc.
So, perhaps, worth a meal if you have...
Read moreCasa Berrinche was a great late-night discovery. We showed up quite late, but they still brought out a small plate of Jamón Ibérico and Queso Oca that totally hit the spot. The ham, similar to prosciutto but much richer and more flavourful, was sliced paper thin and full of depth. The Queso Oca, a soft, creamy cow’s milk cheese, paired perfectly with it. Add in their high-quality olive oil and warm bread, and we were off to a great start.
I had the Tropicana Sin, one of their non-alcoholic drinks, and it was surprisingly refreshing and well made. The space had a nice relaxed vibe, and the service was warm even that late.
It’s one of the rare places in the area that stays open until 3 am, which makes it ideal if you're out late and craving something more thoughtful than fast food. The prices are on the higher side, but considering the ingredients and the experience, it’s absolutely worth it. A great little spot if you're looking for a late bite with good energy...
Read moreGuiris here! It’s a shame when a restaurant in a beautiful location fails to have the same standard for its food or their prices. We got a gorgeous view of the plaza del altozano from our table and a nice table light to enhance the passage of time from sunset to night. We got our drinks and asked the waiter a few times for the menu. The food also was delayed because my friend is lactose intolerant and most of the food has cream in its sauces. We ordered beef bombon, which had one mushroom cap and two small pieces of chargrilled beef that were overcooked to our taste. This was a “tapa”, 6€, which is quite steep for triana. The grilled sea bass was quite small, as you can ascertain in the pic. 19€ for, literally, just the fish with no sides. It was simmered in vichyssoise. When we asked if it had lactose, they had to take it away and brought the dish again without the sauce. We didn’t try the cocktails, but the beer was well poured. Try to eat...
