Terrible service. Food mediocre. I will not go back.
We got seated and plated, and did not receive bread or olives (other tables did). They also did not offer an English menu while it was clear we weren't native. (They do have an English menu, as I learned later from viewing other tables).
My wife asked for a (dry) Riesling wine, which was out, so they recommended a different one, which was way too sweet. We asked them to take it back and bring a Verdejo instead. They charged us both wines.
The door to the men's room wouldn't close/lock properly. Also the toilet had no toilet seat.
After placing our food order we got no attention from our waiter at all. Our food was served by someone else, who also offered us other tables' food.. twice(!). Avoid the 'tempura' or fried stuff, they use very thick batter, so it's very 'bready' (as if covered in pancake; it is very unlike actual tempura).
We had to ask a busser for the check (he was the only one to overview the dining room once in a while), and subsequently waited more than 10 minutes with check and debit card in hand to get some attention to finally pay (again, not with our waiter). Meanwhile they were turning walk-in customers away cuz it was full...
They never asked if we wanted a 2nd round of drinks (missed opportunity).
O, and the wait staff was not too busy to check in on us -- all they did was stand around the PoS and the pass, waiting to put in their orders and/or for food to come out.. (while they have mobile PoS devices, so why they need that central computer is beyond me)
We left without having that 2nd round of drinks (or 3rd/4th etc) or even having looked at the dessert menu (a rarity with us)! Never seen such disarray, and seldom had such a poor...
Read moreHidden just off the main square of Alameda De Hercules in Sevilla is the utter gem that is Duo Tapas. This restaurant is full every night and if you don't reserve, then odds are you won't get a table and there is a very good reason for this. You sit and are presented with a detailed menu of tapas plates and the staff are highly knowledgeable. Within a minute or so of your order, some of the most delicious food I have experienced anywhere on the planet will suddenly start arriving at your table. Trust me, you will want to eat everything that they bring you. Honestly this is one of my 3 favourite global restaurants and that experience spans across Europe, the Middle East and Russia. If you don't make a special trip to find this restaurant when you're in Seville, then you've seriously missed out. Reasonably priced and the food is of an excellent standard, a standard that never drops.
I never go to Seville without seeking this place straight out and you should too.
5 🌟 and should have a Michelin star. Maybe Mr Ramsey should make an effort to visit and raise the profile. They now own several restaurants around Seville, which is a growing testament to the...
Read moreWe have booked a table 24 hours ahead in the Duo Tapas Restaurant. It was almost empty at 7pm. We were told to move to the "partner" Restaurant La Terraza just next door. It is a different ambiente. We were then told to take the table in the middle just front door, heaps of people and cars passing by. When asking for a table on the site, there was such a distressed unfriendly waitress declining. "Its the only table for you I have, all the others (like 50) are specifically reserved by other guests. Yes, of course!
When seated in the very back in the runway of the kitchen, waiters and bar we've noticed the waiters talking about us in a group. We've decided to just go for a glass of Cava and then leave.
Luckily there were way better Restaurants on the streets. I believe that nowadays you don't have to let yourself be treated that way. The options are too big and people treat you like a valued guest in other places way better. I totally don't...
